What to Expect
Most of Japanese people believe both Buddhism and Shinto at the same time.
In this tour, you will experience different type of religious activities in Japan.
Start from Zen meditation for 30 mins in Zen Temple in Takayama.
Japanese monk in Zen Buddhism can guide you to the basics of Zen meditation practices for beginners.
After the meditation, explore the temple concentrated zone in the north of Takayama town to visit more temples.
Then, we visit one of the most important shrine in Takayama, Hie Shrine in the east of Takayama.
This shrine is the base shrine for Takayama Spring Festivals, and most commonly worshiped by local people,
however, as it is a bit far from town center. it is rarely visited by tourists.
It is worth visiting there, with quiet inspirational experiences with majestic architecture.
Next, we will visit quickly the Headquarter building of "Sukyo Mahikari" Newly Developed religion in 60s in Japan.
Their Main Hall is simply so magnificent that it really worth just looking, not deeply involved in their religious activities.
At the end, as optional tour, we can stop at HIKARU museum. (Except for Wednesday, closing day of the museum)
It is probably the least visited museum among many museums in Takayama,
as it is located in not convenient (quite away from town center), and operated by Sukyo Mahikari religious organizations,
but their exhibitions are so extensive and informative, covering different era and cultural group all over the world,
absolutely recommendable destinations to all the visitors in Takayama.
