Shimonoseki got become a stage of historic moments such as battle and treaty.Also it has long history as a port town.

The architectural remainders at that time, a commercial district called Kaikyo Plaza,
and Mojiko Retro Observation room comprise fantastic townscape of Mojiko retro against the Kanmon strait.

1.Mekari shrine (nearby entrance of the tunnel)
It is located at northernmost point of Kyushyu island.
It is faced to Kanmon strait and located right under the Kanmon-kaikyo bridge.
You can see the passing of ships and tidal current very closely from shrine.
If you are lucky, you can also see whirlpools.
2.Kanmon Undersea Tunnel for pedestrians（15minutes walk, Mojiko ⇔Shimonoseki）
This tunnel connect between mainland and Kyushu island.
It is the only undersea pedestrian tunnel in the world.
On the middle of it, you can find the sign of the prefectural border between Fukuoka and Yamaguchi.
And you can across the border with only one step.
3.Mimosusogawa Park (nearby exit of the tunnel)
It is located near by Kanmon Tunnel Footpath Entrance (Shimonoseki side)
This park provides a representative view of the Kanmon Strait. It also witnessed turning points of Japanese history.
Two historical memorials are displayed here.
One is images of important figures of Dannoura 's Naval battle and
the other is 5 cannons and a batteries used in Shimonoseki war.
4.Akama Jingu Shrine
Once you pass through dragon palace shaped Suitenmon Gate, you can feel distinctive atmosphere of spiritual site.
5.Kameyama Hachimangu Shrine.
Pray with Japanese manner.
Also enjoy big torii gate made of granite, structures, and beautiful view.
6.Kanmon Ferry ride: at Karato Terminal
Across Kanmon strait from Shimonoseki to mojiko.
You can enjoy beautiful scenery including Kanmon-kyo bridge and Ganryu-jima Island.
7.Lunch( before or after No. 6):At Karato Ichiba fish market or Mojiko
Once it was used as a means of transportation,but now, it is used for making your travel more attractive.
You can ride and go around Mojiko Retro district .

10.Old Moji Mitsui Club which was a social club of Mitsui Zaibatsu ( industrial and financial conglomerates. )
We can see the memorial rooms for Albert Einstein at where he and his wife stayed in 1922.
11.JR Mojiko Station
After 6 years repair works for preservation, it is released in March 2019.
It is a national cultural important property. You can see the architectural remainders of Taisho era.
If time allows you can do shopping at Mojiko Retro District.

In addition to transportation fare during tour, my round transportation fare from my house to meeting place is required. As for Yamaguchi, I can only guide you western part of it, including Tunosima Bridge, Motonosumi Inari Shrine, Omishima Island, and Akiyosidai limestone Cave.In that case, East -end of meeting point is JR Shin Yamagchi station. I can't come to Hiroshima,because it is so far away from my house(240km).

From Hakata station to Mojiko station, it takes about 45 minutes by bullet train and local train.
Make sure you wear comfortable walking shoes.
