What to Expect

Only have half a day in Tokyo? Don’t worry, you can see and get what you exactly want in Tokyo in this tour. We will visit Asakusa, the most popular tourist sight in Tokyo, to see the Senso-ji temple and Nakamise-dori shopping street. There are several perfect photo spots, many things to try and eat, and wish for your luck in the authentic Japanese style.

Afterwards, we will visit Kappabashi where you can get all the unique kitchen utensils such as chopsticks, knives and bento boxes, and feel the neat works by the craftsman in the area.

These goods are also very popular as a souvenir for your friends and families.

Also, as an option, you can try the plastic food sample making here, which magically looks real. If you want to try this, please mention to the guide so that they can book the session for you (*the fee for the activity is NOT included in the tour fee).

Highlights

In Asakusa which is visited by more than half of the overseas tourists, you will encounter Tokyo’s oldest temple Sensoji Temple as well as the Kaminarimon (Thunder Gate), which is the outermost gate of Sensoji Temple as well as the street lined with old-school shops that lead to the inner precincts of the shrine. Many of the stores offer services in English.

Kappabashi is the street located between Ueno and Asakusa with shops dealing in cookware. With over 100 years of history, customers from all over Japan, whether they be amateur cooks or professional chefs, come to the street. And even in recent years, it has become a hit with the overseas tourists as well.

“ Great guide ”

Masaharu was a great guide for us for a day and a half in Tokyo. He arranged our itinerary but was extremely flexible with changes, which we made due to bad weather. He also took us to great restaurants for lunch. His English was excellent and my wife thought he was very sweet. I'd recommend him to anyone.

“ For the Best "Hidden Gem" Tour of Tokyo -- Pick Mack! ”

Mack gave us a first class tour of Tokyo. We wanted to avoid the tourist traps. We wanted a "Hidden Gem" tour -- and we got it! Mack took us to some very unusual places. We joined a Buddhist ceremony (drums and all). We wandered through narrow streets in old neighbourhoods of Tokyo surrounded by wooden homes. We had a traditional tea ceremony in one of these homes. And -- we visited some unique artists along the way. Mack's english is very good. He studied in the US -- and has an MBA from Duke University. He was very good at answering our questions. Bottom-line -- Mack is an excellent guide. We highly recommend him.

“ Great Time ”

We had a memorable time in Japan with Guchi as our guide. He’s easy to understand and flexible. We were very pleased with the lunch & hands-on experiences like weaving & riding the Rickshaw. Highly recommended guide.

“ A wonderful tour of Tokyo! ”

I went with my husband to visit my children who are studying abroad in Japan, and we were unsure of what to do while we were in Tokyo. The city is so incredibly large, and there are so many things to see. I am very happy to say that Kunio made exploring the best parts of the city much easier and more convenient! It was unfortunate that our day with Kunio was very rainy, we happened to arrive at the same time as a typhoon, despite this issue Kunio made every effort to ensure that the tour was still a blast. We saw much more of the city than I thought possible in a short 9 and a 1/2 hour tour. Additionally, Kunio helped my husband and I with instructions on how best to get to our hotel from the airport. He went as far as to find our hotel and take pictures of it before we arrived in Japan! His advice proved to be incredibly helpful as neither of us speak Japanese. I would highly recommend booking a tour with Kunio, he went above and beyond our expectations!
