If you’re looking for a guide in Tokyo, and Kaneo is available, book him ASAP! He is the best of the best! I’ll start out by saying that it would have taken my husband and myself a full week to do all the things we did with Kaneo in just one day. This is not an exaggeration. I based my initial requests to Kaneo on my “Lonely Planet” guidebook’s “must do” list. We were able to do all of them, plus several more sites and activities. By booking this tour with Kaneo on our first full day in Tokyo, we were able to be more relaxed with the rest of our days there. Taking the pressure off the rest of our days in Tokyo was an invaluable result of our tour with Kaneo. I must mention Kaneo’s awesome itinerary PDFs that he sent leading up to our trip. These files included his own personal photos of each activity, as well as descriptions and detailed price breakdowns for everything. He also included a photo of the exact spot in our hotel lobby where he would meet us. Another kind thing Kaneo did before we even met was he included detailed instructions (including photos!) on how to get from the subway station to our hotel. Considering we had already agreed that he would meet us and drop us off at our hotel, I believe he included this just to help us upon our initial arrival to Tokyo. I imagine that Kaneo made a special trip out to our hotel (completely unprompted!) just to take these photos and write out the directions for us. Absolutely above and beyond. Kaneo speaks superb English, as he has been an English teacher for many years. Communication was very seamless. He was patient when my husband and I wanted to spend a little extra time in a shop or get stamps at shrines, while also being enthusiastic about making sure we saw everything we set out to see. We went over our scheduled timeframe for our tour, but Kaneo made certain that we didn’t leave each other until we saw some “must see” parts of Tokyo. It takes a very special person to enjoy spending an entire day with strangers, in the rain, often fighting crowds, just to show someone a temple/garden/shrine that they themselves have seen probably a million times. However, Kaneo is this special person. It is obvious that he loves nothing more than showing off his country. I am so thankful that I got to spend my day with Kaneo!
Thank you for your kind and long review of my guide. I am very happy to know you enjoyed my guide so much as to evaluate it very high. I also feel happy to know I could show you some of good things of Japan, including our “Omotenashi” mind. I also appreciate your kindness to bring me a precious souvenir and a letter. Best regards, Kaneo
