Taka was very helpful and accommodating when planning our trip to Tokyo. Our group of four had a short trip to Tokyo and typical of our travel style, we really try to see as much as possible on our first visit anywhere. I planned a lot of stuff for the day and Taka set the itinerary in his proposal. I love to travel and plan my itineraries and figure out the logistics but in planning this trip, I realized how big Tokyo really is. I looked into a half day bus tour but wasn’t thrilled about the limited time at the tour highlights. I looked into booking it and just getting to the meeting place would take about an hour by train. Then I saw an advertisement for Triple Lights and was surprised how reasonable the prices were. For just a few dollars more, we could plan a trip for twice the time, personalized to our interests, with pick up at our hotel. It was a no-brainer what our choice should be. We had tickets to a baseball game at night and Taka even arranged to end our tour at Tokyo Dome. Taka went above and beyond because our daughter and her friend met up with another friend at Tokyo Dome and he helped them after the tour with more advice. I wish we could have had his number because our friend had an extra baseball ticket and I would have liked for him to have it if he wanted it. Our daughter was sick and it was a very cold day in Tokyo. Taka diverted from the itinerary to help us get to a mall in Shibuya to get her something to keep her warmer. He also allowed us the flexibility to deviate from the itinerary when the girls got a bit excited with shopping in Harajuku. That’s the cool thing about having your own guide in Tokyo. If you’re having fun then you can be a bit more flexible. I highly recommend a private guide for your first day in Tokyo and I strongly recommend Taka as your guide. One thing- you will pay for transportation and food for you and your guide. You give the guide money for anticipated costs prior to starting the day. I thought since we ran late, Taka didn’t have time to prepare our receipt and would use the change for dinner for himself. I was surprised when I had a message at the hotel the next day with an envelope containing a detailed receipt and change.
Thank you for the review, Margaret. I wish your first visit to Japan would be wonderful and memorable and you found many things in Japan and more and more interests in Japan. I’m looking forward to seeing again in the future.
