We had a great introduction to Tokyo with Makiko! She recommended us to visit the following must see sights in Tokyo for our first day in the city including Tsukijii Market, Asakusa, Meiji jingu shrine and Harajuku. Tsukijii market was great and she made recommendations on which shops had good prices on Toro sushi and where to buy the best green tea. Our trip was mid March and we were hoping to see the beautiful cherry blossoms of Japan, but we were 1-2 weeks too early to see them in full bloom, but Makiko was committed to helping us find cherry blossoms. We were delighted that Makiko found a beautiful Cherry blossom tree for us to take a family picture with in Yoyogi park. In harajuku I wanted to see the cute kawaii fashion of the Harajuku girls and Makiko brought us to an underground shopping area where we saw the most unusual and interesting harajuku fashions. My 11yo boy girl twins were interested in animals and she recommended which Owl cafe we should visit and also a great zoo cafe where the kids enjoyed feeding and interacting with otters, hedgehogs, rabbits and chinchillas. Makiko also was a great resource and so helpful in giving us tips on how to get around in the city since the Japanese subway system is a little more complicated that the subways sytems we are used to in the US. We had a great super packed 1st day in Tokyo with Makiko.
Thank you very much for such a great review! So happy to hear you enjoyed my tour. We were lucky to see the beautiful cherry blossoms. The family picture under the tree was lovely! I had a lovely time with you. Hope to see you again! My warm regards to everyone in your family. Makiko
