This was a 3 1/2 hour tour split between interesting sights in Yanaka and a class in making Soba noodles. Our guide led us around and told us about this fascinating part of Tokyo. We got to see areas we wouldn't have thought to explore if we just went by ourselves and Hiroki had a wealth of knowledge about the local shops and shrines. After a good walk around, we arrived at the restaurant. It was just the 4 of us there, met by the restaurant chef and host. They were kind and patient and Hiroki was a great translator, helping us to get the most out of the experience. Making soba noodles was harder than it looked, but the chef was very encouraging and managed to salvage our efforts and with much encouragement the finished noodles were delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour and recommend it as a unique experience.
Dear Freya, Thank you very much for the great review!! I'm so happy to hear that you and your family thoroughly enjoyed the tour of YANAKA and the cultural experience !! And also, I and the chef had a great and impressive time during the lesson. (Especially, your questions to the point gave us while the host explained the process of milling and shifting buckwheat berries were so impressive !!) Because, our happiest moments are when our guests enjoyed the lesson to learn about our unique food culture deeply. Thank you again and stay happy !! Hiroki
