Mayumi was the ideal city guide. She picked us up at our hotel (two days in a row, each a half-day), taught us how to navigate the public transportation system, and efficiently (and enthusiastically!) took us around to see Tokyo's highlights. With minimal input from us, Mayumi devised a "best of" itinerary that included both the modern and traditional sides of Tokyo. The pace of the tour was perfect -- fast enough to squeeze in a handful of neighborhoods on each day, but casual enough to feel comfortable stopping for photos and to explore food stalls, markets, etc. Mayumi's English is outstanding and she is well versed in Japanese history. Mayumi was knowledgeable about food, history, architecture, etc., so my sense is that she would be an ideal option regardless of the particular ages or interests of the tour group. Our time in Tokyo would not have been the same without her.
Roxane, what a kind and encouraging review this is! Thank you so much. I can’t believe those things happened only in two days because we had only four hours each day. You two looked so excited about everything I showed you that I got to want to show you more. I can imagine you were traveling around just like an expert of Japan after I left you as you learned everything so quickly. There are still countless hidden places in Japan. I’m a nature enthusiast and really into adventure. If you’d like to get some information on something special to visit, please feel free to ask me anything even if you don’t need to hire me. I’m willing to share anything I know with you. Please keep in touch! Mayumi
