We met Mao in Takayama during our brief visit, for a half-day tour in a cold November afternoon with our 2 young children. Mao was extremely patient with us, encouraging us to try street foods and sake. She is very informative and have great energy. Even though our tour was only for few hours, she didn't make us feel rushed. She is very smart and gentle. We are really happy that we found her for our brief time in beautiful Takayama. We highly recommend her. view more

My family and I were on our first trip to Japan, and we wanted to see the contrast of the city life and rural life. Takayama and Shirakawa-go was on our list and since my 6 year old daughter was with us, I wanted to be sure we knew what we were doing and where we were going. Step in Mika-san, one of the nicest and friendliest persons you will ever meet. We were in touch before my trip since I had many questions, which Mika-san always happily answered. We were staying at a hotel and also movi... view more
Mao sensed what was appropriate for us and gave us a truly enjoyable wander around Takayama. It was an excellent afternoon. Relaxed and interesting. A great start to our visit ! view more
We had such a fun time with Taka exploring Takayama. He was knowledgeable, attentive, and just a great person to be around. He introduced us to local food and the Takayama Matsuri (even though we weren't there for the actual festival) and showed us so many things there are to love about the city. We definitely want to come back in the future. view more
Mao is a local young lady who spent a year in the US. Her English is excellent. She has a delightful personality and a pleasant demeanor. We greatly enjoyed seeing and exploring Takayama with her. Even better was getting to know this charming local lady. Highly recommended! view more
I really enjoyed my tour with Mao. She had a lot of insider information that you can only get from a local. She was flexible and helpful. I learned a lot more about what living in japan is like. She had great local food recommendations as well! view more
Mao was very helpful before we arrived there. We almost stayed at a hotel that was one hour away and didn't realize the bus didn't work at night. Fortunately, Mao told us about this so we could change our plans. Mao answered questions before our visit and made suggestions. Unfortunately, the Takayama Spring Festival activities were not as good as expected because of the rain. Mao was good at taking us to different stores that we were interested in and telling us which sake to buy! She also... view more
My 24 year old son and I spent a wonderful day with Bonnie in Takayama and Shirakawago! Bonnie is super-friendly, knowledgeable, organized, and fluent in both English and Chinese. She was flexible and went above and beyond to help us with things like making dinner reservations in the next town we were going to. I can’t recommend Bonnie highly enough- I wish she were our guide throughout our trip!! view more
Wish we had more days with Yuriko! She is a very nice lady, extremely polite and very good in taking us around Takayama and Shirakawa Village. She is very knowledgeable and even before the tour began she was suggesting all these places for us to visit and she accommodated to our wishes. She talked non-stop (in a good way) because she has a lot to say about her city and we had a lot of fun with her. A lot of chatting and laughter while we were going from Point A to Point B. She knows everything t... view more
It was a great experience! Mika picked us up at the hotel and after a short introduction to our tour, we went through the city of Takayama, including some tasty food and ended with a view of a sake brewery (which doesn't offer tours, but Mika booked us in and gave us a tour herself). Thank you from our whole group! We definitely recommend her to everyone looking for a good time in Takayama. view more
