Our tour with Mari was very enjoyable! Mari had put together a personalized tour for us in Nikko. Her preparation and timing was excellent, as she put a lot of thought into details. We learned a lot about Nikko as well as history and art of Japan. Mari is very kind, knowledgeable and fun - and also patient with the photographers among us. We very much enjoyed spending our day in Nikko with her! view more

Good correspondence leading up to the actual tour resulted in Hiroko organising a fully customised itinerary for me. My preferences (e.g. steady pace, like photographing details), likes (e.g. local food, meeting locals) and other interests (e.g. Sake brewery, railways, culture & history) were all fully considered to add to the main reason I wanted to visit Nikko - the Toshogu shrine. We couldn’t find any tours of Nikki area that started in Nikko. Mari met us in Nikko and guided us through Shinkyo Bridge, Rinnoji Temple, Toshogu Shrine, Taiyuinbyo, Futarasan Shrine and Tamozawa Villa. She explained the history of the area and temples, made sure we saw and understood famous and important things in each area. We have toured other shrines and temples in Japan as part of large groups. Enjoyed being able to tour each at a pace of our choosing and with personal attention, more expl... view more

Great time with Kashima san. Excellent pre-trip planning, prompt, flexible, good suggestions. I can’t imagine a more efficient user of public transportation, we covered Tokyo as if we were in a private car —- only faster. In Nikko, when it rained, we modified our trip on the spot, so we could see everything we wanted. Oh, and there were nine of us he was keeping track of. view more
We cannot thank Masako enough. She has been exceptional from our first contact. From organising a customised tour, ordering a much wanted Japanese book through assisting us about the damage from Typhoon Jebi. Nothing has been too much trouble. Her knowledge of Japanese history is comprehensive. We have booked Masako for a second day and are looking forward to seeing what she has in store for us. view more
