Aki met the group at Keio Hotel, Shinjuku and proceeded to the train station which Aki got our train tickets to go to Kikko.. Aki was very informative and the group enjoyed the information that he provided to the group. He was very knowledgeable of the area. The group really enjoyed him. He was very considerate and answered the questions the group had. If we take another I will surely ask for Aki. Sorry for not getting back sooner, was trying to catchup sleep and taking of things before t... view more
We spent 2 days with Nobu as our guide. He was fantastic and we highly recommend him to everyone! We traveled with my mother and father in-law who are both in their 90’s and Nobu was extremely patient and attentive to their pace and challenges. He really made us very comfortable and shared his detailed knowledge of the history of the sites we visited! In addition, he arranged a private van and driver, Kaede, who complimented Nobu perfectly. We would hire both Nobu and Kaede again. view more
Makiko met us at the train station in Tokyo. Her English was excellent and easy to understand. Before our trip she communicated with us months and weeks in advance to clarify and coordinate the trip and to help tailor it to our wishes. When we met her, she was very warm and welcoming. She kept us on schedule, planning for purchasing return tickets in advance (lucky for us as trains were sold out and people were even trying to buy our tickets)! Makiko guided us from location to location with fun... view more
My tour with Sumiaki was very good. He provided interesting facts about each place we visited, we spent the day in Nikko and visited Toshogu Shrine, Kegon Falls, Lake Chuzenji as per my request but we also visited Ryukyu Falls and I had not planned to go here but it was very beautiful! Sumiaki is very friendly, polite and helpful and took some great photos at each location which I can share with family when I return home :). Overall a great day! Thank you :) view more

Our tour with Mari was very enjoyable! Mari had put together a personalized tour for us in Nikko. Her preparation and timing was excellent, as she put a lot of thought into details. We learned a lot about Nikko as well as history and art of Japan. Mari is very kind, knowledgeable and fun - and also patient with the photographers among us. We very much enjoyed spending our day in Nikko with her! view more

Good correspondence leading up to the actual tour resulted in Hiroko organising a fully customised itinerary for me. My preferences (e.g. steady pace, like photographing details), likes (e.g. local food, meeting locals) and other interests (e.g. Sake brewery, railways, culture & history) were all fully considered to add to the main reason I wanted to visit Nikko - the Toshogu shrine. The surprise highlight was a home cooked meal by a local Nikko resident. There was good conversation, she was ple... view more

We couldn’t find any tours of Nikki area that started in Nikko. Mari met us in Nikko and guided us through Shinkyo Bridge, Rinnoji Temple, Toshogu Shrine, Taiyuinbyo, Futarasan Shrine and Tamozawa Villa. She explained the history of the area and temples, made sure we saw and understood famous and important things in each area. We have toured other shrines and temples in Japan as part of large groups. Enjoyed being able to tour each at a pace of our choosing and with personal attention, more expl... view more
