I would really recommend Hiroyuki as a guide. He was really knowledgeable and really took care of us. He even guided me of how to take transportation from airport to our hotel and also helped us with our luggage when we were at Nara. He went beyond being a guide- he was really very helpful! Thank you, Hiroyuki! view more
we had very nice tour with Kashima - he was prepared in excellent manner, all on time, and he has shared with us interesting stories on Nara. very entusiastic about his job. view more
We did a 4-person, 1 day trip with Tomoe. It was a very full day, covering not only Nara, but also the Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine in Kyoto. As such, it required a lot of walking and a fair amount of logistics. Tomoe handled all of the logistics excellently. She is also quite knowledgeable. But this was not the best part--- it is that she was a delightful person to spend the day with. Her English is also quite good. If I had to find a negative, it would be that she speaks more softly tha... view more
We enjoyed our day in Nara with Kazuhiko. He was very accommodating to meet us at a subway station we were going to be near instead of our hotel. His English is very good as is his knowledge. He is personable and always looked out for our safety with cars, etc. when our tour was over he took the train back with us and made sure we would easily return to our hotel. Also in the weeks before the tour he communicated promptly whenever I had questions. view more
I was really happy with having chosen Jun from your selection of guides. Jun was able to take me back in time by showing me temples and old Nara-machi. You made my time in Nara so much more easier and less stressful, had I been on my own. Jun’s english is impeccable and he is able to understand your needs and being such a professional guide he knows where to take you and where the best photo shots can be taken. I loved that Jun was able to explain many of the intricacies with the religions ... view more
From start to finish Seiko was terrific to work with. Several emails back and forth and a custom tour of the beautiful city of Nara with Seiko was created. She picked us up from our cruise ship port. We began by her teaching us how to use the train system, from buying tickets to learning the lines and where to go. We then took several trains to Nara from Kobe. Once we arrived she took us all around the shrine and temple of Nara. It was truly beautiful. The free roaming sacred deer was our reaso... view more
Our group of 4 spent 2 wonderful days with Koichi San. It was the first time visiting the area and having Koichi San as our guide made the visit exceptionally memorable. He customized our tour to see all the highlights and the green tea fields of Wazuka Town. His English is very good and his knowledge of the area is top notch. He has many handouts to explain and describe the area and culture. His choice of restaurants and local stops were perfect, including tasting tea beer, sake tastings at a ... view more
We've never hired a guide before, but thought this would be a good choice since we don't speak a word of Japanese and wanted to experience some local culture. Michiko was the perfect guide for us. Not only was she knowledgable about the area, but Michiko was also able to track down some things that I wanted to do that would not have been available to me, if I had looked for them on my own. First, she connected me with a fabulous old farmhouse stay in Nara Prefecture (with outstanding breakfast a... view more
Hiroyuki has a very friendly way of explaining concepts and telling stories. His spoken English is excellent... I think better than mine! If you spend a day with him you can get better knowledge, deeper understanding of what you see but also a lot of fun. I do regret not having spent more days with Hiroyuki in the beautiful Nara. view more
Shin has been nothing but self-less, helpful, and generous with his time and efforts during his time as our guide. He went above and beyond all our expectations to meet what we had envisioned as a "perfect" trip to Japan. By the end of the trip, we felt like Shin was family to us. He took us to some wonderful locations and shared some of Japan's greatest experiences with us, making priceless memories that our family will never forget. Shin took our ideas and suggestions but also made some of his... view more
We had two phantastic days with Kaori in Kyoto and Nara. In very short time (as our time was limited) she showed as the must-have-seen places while considering the extreme August temperatures, so that we did the outside walkings in the early day and visited the cooling inside places in the hot afternoon. It was not only a highly informatory sight-seeing by her side but also lots of fun. Kaori is a very pleasant tour guide and she easily reacts on sudden ideas that might appear along the tour.
