Richard's passion for Japan really shines through - you can feel his deep respect for the country and his insight into Japanese history and culture. Our tour took us to truly off-the-beaten paths that even some native Japanese miss out on. Our tour was a very long day (be prepared to walk and travel) but definitely well worth it. And the sake tasting definitely helped. I wholeheartedly recommend Richard for his expertise, friendliness and passion. You won't find a stronger advocate for Japan! view more
We spent 4 amazing dates with Richard last month and he took us to some out-of-the-way places and had auténtic food we did not expect to have. He took us way out in the country and we discovered the oldest Shrine in all of Japan, ate Swimming Somen noodles (which we would love to bring back to New York) and just had an amazing time listening to his stories and his understanding of Japanese History, Shinto and Buddhism. We will return back hopefully next year view more

We booked trip with Kenji for half a day when our cruise ship arrived in Kobe. I initially asked Kenji for a tour to Nara but at the last minute we decided that we would rather see Himeji Castle. I asked him to change itinerary at the last minute. He was very positive about the change and suggested to go to see additionally Engyoji-temple on Mt. Shoshazan that I did not even know about. Our trip was great! We really enjoyed beautiful temple and fall colors on Mr. Shohazan. Kenji met us exactly o... view more
Had a wonderful tour in Nara. Tomoe took us to all the famous sites one can possibly cover in one day, first on the train from Kyoto, then lots of walking, and finally taxis in Nara as necessary or when I needed to take a break (not to mention to save precious time). Tomoe gave us a wonderful overview of the local history, the Shinto traditions and other important cultural notes. She also patiently answered all our questions. In sum, Tomoe made us feel right at home while providing us ... view more

Takehiko san likes to be called “Zumi.” He was recommended very correctly to me by Emi san, a very helpful English-speaking coordinator online at Triplelights. Besides providing the service of a wheelchair accessible van, Zumi san is an excellent tourist guide in all respects. I, being handicapped in one leg and a wheelchair user, was on a long cruise with my girlfriend & 2 friends between October & November 2018 visiting several Japanese ports and stopped over Osaka twice. Zumi san pampered me ... view more

Hiro is a fantastic guide who went out of his way to show us Kyoto. He is punctual, organized, and has a strong grasp of history. He brought laminated papers explaining temple history etc. He was flexible with the plan and tried his best to get us from point A to point B in the most efficient but cheapest manner possible. He even made a dinner reservation for us 3 days before our tour. I would recommend Hiro highly. view more
I contacted Toichi for 2 tours in Nara and Osaka for a small group of travellers. The services provided were excellent and Toichi is a very knowledgeable and friendly person. He brought materials with information for everybody. And was very attentive at the group. And he had his guide sign as a small frog which helped us because it was visible in the crowds. He helped us and explained the difference of dry sake, cold and hot sake, plum wine (another form of sake). And as a very big plus he speaks ... view more
