Tomomi is a superb guide who is extremely knowledgeable. Over the course of several hours, she introduced me to Aokigahara, pointing out many interesting and important things about this remarkable forest that I never would have noticed myself. Tomomi is a local and nature lover, and it quickly became apparent that share cares a lot about the Fuji Five Lakes region and is passionate about sharing it with visitors. She knows the Aokigahara trails very well, which is valuable given that in a few places, the trail can become a little difficult to follow. I really appreciated that she showed me features of the area that aren't heavily promoted to tourists even though they are arguably more interesting than some of the popular tourist spots. Beyond her experience and knowledge, Tomomi is incredibly friendly and our hike through Aokigahara was very pleasant. She shared a lot about Japanese culture and language, and made a number of local recommendations that will come in handy. If I had gone to Aokigahara by myself, I don't think my visit would have been nearly as enlightening and memorable. I plan to return in the future to explore more of this beautiful area and will surely book another tour with Tomomi then to continue my explorations.
Thank you so much for your wonderful review, Blair-san. It was a perfect day to hike through the beautiful forest brimming with greenery. The rain we had on the previous day made the deep green of the mosses and the fresh foliage stood out. I was just happy to see you enjoyed hiking fully even without Mt. Fuji. The Aokigahara forest is the most recommended place to visit among the tourist attractions around the Mt. Fuji area. Hope you had a great time exploring the forest filled with natural beauty spreads on the foot of Mt. Fuji and learned about various aspects of Mt. Fuji through the tour. Please come visit there again in the different season!
