We went to Mount Fuji with Yuki last week, and we are so glad we chose him as our guide! Before the trip, we messaged back and forth about the cost of bus vs. train, and Yuki did all of the research to let us know which would be more cost effective. Our hotel was in the Okubo area (not where most easy-to-get-to Shinjuku hotels are), and he willingly met us in the hotel lobby on the morning of the tour. Yuki led the way as soon as we met him. Japan's train/bus stations could get confusing at times, so it was nice to have someone who confidently got us to where we needed to be. Once we got to the Mount Fuji area, Yuki noticed that the clouds were blocking the view of the mountain, and suggested an alternative to what we had planned that day so that we would be able to see it. We drove to the other side of the mountain, and he was spot on. He took us to a beautiful non-touristy lake, where there was only 1 other family doing some sightseeing and one person fishing. The best part - we could clearly see Mount Fuji. If we didn't have Yuki, who expertly knew to go around the mountain, we wouldn't have gotten to see it, and that was our entire reason for visiting that area. Yuki went above and beyond, and we were very appreciate of his efforts. We also got to see the ice & wind caves & the kimono museum. While walking to the ice caves, rather than walking on the street, as most tourists seemed to be doing, Yuki took us on a nature walk through a beautiful forest. This made our walk to the ice caves much more enjoyable. Without Yuki, we wouldn't have known to take that route, so we are grateful to have had a guide who knew the special parts of the area that weren't filled with tourists. Also, Yuki has mastered the English language, so no need to worry about any language barriers if English is your native language. We were very impressed with Yuki and this tour. I wouldn't hesitate to book with him again if we go back to Japan. If you are looking for a friendly & knowledgeable guide, Yuki should definitely be your choice.
Dear Michele, Thank you for taking my tour to Lake Kawaguchi and write such an intensive review. The weather was unpredictable on the day so I did my best to provide you the best tour of mine. It was fortunate for us to see Mt. Fuji on a cloudy day. We planed to visit the Koreito Pagoda to see Mt. Fuji but the clouds blocked Mt. Fuji in the direction so I asked the taxi driver to take us to the west where we found the great view of Mt. Fuji. The DVD we watched at the Kimono Museum was very educational. By all means, it was a good experience for me too. Best regards, Yuki
