Chie was a first-class tour guide with vast experience and knowledge of the area. She planned our tour down to the exact times and was able to fully explain the historical background and significance of each place visited. She even gave little-known information about the surrounding area and good places to eat and things to do. We visited Kanrantei and she talked about the historical background of the teahouse and explained the very sweets we were eating there. At Entsuin temple she gave detailed explanations on the various statues and caves and its significance to the area, as well as helping me take lots of pictures. She explained also how the Tsunami had effected the area. She even introduced me to charcoal ice cream, part of an ice cream shop that has numerous flavors not common outside of Japan. The cruse around Matsushima bay was also very well planned as she translated everything that the cruise guide was saying. She did not miss a thing during our tour and offered advice on other specialties around the Sendai area. Overall my experience was great and far exceeded my expectations. It is not your typical tour and Chie made it even more special with her wit and knowledge. I would highly recommend her when visiting Matsushima. There is so much I would have missed without her help.
