I had a thoroughly enjoyable time with Mai exploring a couple of areas around Sendai. We hit the Shiogama fish market, and Urakasumi sake brewery, then had a very nice sushi lunch and walked a bit in Sendai itself. Mai showed me some very nice places, pointed out interesting (and excellent) things to eat, and told me about life in Sendai in general from her personal perspective. Mai was very nice, professional, and personable. I had a great time and I thank her for it. view more
My wife is a true Hanyu Yuzuru’s fan and that’s the main reason why we decided to spend half day (on our way to Akita) in Sendai to visit his birth place and hometown. If triplelights allow us to give Shunsuke a six stars rating, we are more happy to do so. Shunsuke diligently planned a special tour to make sure my wife can experience her “Yuzuru” experience, Shunsuke even went beyond and helped my wife to get the limited Yuzuru subway pass two months before we arrived. He understand ou... view more
Our time with Mai was too short. She is very well versed in the history of the area as well a great insight into modern Japan. There is a whelth of information we never would have received we're it not for her knowledge. What enjoyed how the history of Matsushima has influenced Japan today - none of which we would have observed or understood with Mai. She picked out a very tasty lunch spot for us when we said we wanted to have seafood. The day felt personal due to her effort to cater to ou... view more
Shunsuke was a great tour guide with a lot of experience, he planned our tour carefully and also took into account my preferences about what to do along the way. I wanted to see the cherry blossoms and he took me to a park on the hills of Matsushima where the view of cherry blossoms together with the view of Matshusima Bay area was amazing! I wanted to try some of the local food and he took me to a local restaurant for a great sushi course and famous local oysters. Of course, we also visited all... view more
CHIE was the most amazing woman. After regular contact preceding the trip, she met us at the Sendai station holding a "Dear Nick" sign to escort us on our tour. She helped us immensely in sorting out our train tickets, before taking us on our tour. Throughout, she shared tales and insights we never would have gleaned from our surroundings alone. She found an amazing seaside restaurant, and helped navigate the menu so we each could have something that suited our palate. She even entertained us o... view more

CHIE is a great guide and provided a 1 day tour of the Matsushima area. Prior to the tour, she communicated back out forth with us regarding our specific needs/wants and she made the whole plannying process very easy. She even went above and beyond the call of duty by helping with a lunch reservation in advance. Thank you for all your help and for such a wonderful tour day! :) Chantal Wagner view more
Chie was a first-class tour guide with vast experience and knowledge of the area. She planned our tour down to the exact times and was able to fully explain the historical background and significance of each place visited. She even gave little-known information about the surrounding area and good places to eat and things to do. We visited Kanrantei and she talked about the historical background of the teahouse and explained the very sweets we were eating there. At Entsuin temple she gave detaile... view more
Mai met us punctually at the cruise ship terminal at Ishinomaki port and she accompanied us by taxi to a local station where we caught a local train to Matsushima. We visited all the sights including beautiful gardens and temples and later went on a boat trip around the bay where she pointed out all the islands of interest. She was a delightful person, very friendly and knowledgeable and we had a very relaxed and interesting time. Mai was happy to take things at our pace, being four older peo... view more
I had a truly wonderful experience in visiting Matsushima by using Tamada-san as a guide. Her knowledge, kindness and humour allows me to enjoy my visit in Matsushima. She brought me to lots of interesting places there (such as Matsushima island cruise, Zuiganji, Kanrantei) and I really learned a lot from them. She is also very flexible and was able to accommodate her itinerary to include other places which I want to visit. We are becoming a good friends and I would certainly use h... view more
