Eric met us when we arrived at the Kyoto Station. Then, he took as to our hotel. There, he gave us a quick summary on Japanese history, to provide context for the places we will be visiting. On the first day, for 6 hours, the six of us went with him to visit Nijo Castle, Nishiki Market, and Kiyomizu Temple. Eric continued to explain the political and religious background as we walked through Nijo Castle. When we were at Nishiki, it started to rain and Eric bought umbrellas for each of us. The Kiyomizu temple was an uphill walk. Eric took us through a path that was less steep, and was patient as we climb up at our own pace. The next day, for 10 hours, the nine of us went with Eric to Arashiyama Bamboo Grove, Tenryuji Temple, Kinkakuji Temple, Fushimi Inara Shrine, Todaiji Temple, and Nara Deer Park. The crowd was dense, and the nine of us kept getting separated. Eric was able to handle that. At one point, when one of us was really exhausted, Eric called the taxis to take us to a less crowded area. From there, it was an easy walk to our last highlight of the day. Eric was patient, considerate, flexible, and able to manage our time well so that we were able to enjoy all the sites. We are thankful for what we were able to see in Kyoto, and are happy to recommend Eric to anyone.
