We required a guide who can speak good English and is knowledgeable of the history of the places that we are interested in touring in Kyoto and Osaka. From a roster of guides on Triple Lights, we chose Toshi because he had his college education in the U.S. and worked as a media coordinator which hopefully will ensure a well-organized tour. We were not disappointed. Toshi had good command of both written and spoken English language. His choice of words were precise and accurate. In terms of organization, Toshi started communicating with us 2 months before the tour and we gave him an idea of our interests, the places that we intend to visit and the profile of our group. Before our arrival in Japan, he had sent a proposed itinerary for our review. We had to revise the itinerary along the way because of the limitations of my tourmates who were mostly senior citizens. In this aspect, Toshi tried to find shortcuts to minimize walking distances although there are also limitations to this as some places are really not accessible to cars and will still require some walking. He helped us rent a vehicle with driver for our tours, even if this was not technically a part of his job as a guide. In terms of content, Toshi is knowledgeable and willing to share the history of the places that we visited which added to the enjoyment of the tour. Food was not included in the cost of the tour and Toshi suggested interesting and clean places for us to have lunch. On our free days, Toshi also suggested places of interest that we can visit on our own which are near our hotel. He came to see us off to the airport on the last day, on his own volition, even though this was no longer a part of the tour. Overall, we enjoyed our tours and will not hesitate to recommend Toshi as a guide for Kyoto and Osaka.
