My family and I really enjoyed our 2-day tour from Kyoto to Tokyo with Yuki -- and would definitely encourage others to consider this tour! Yuki made our experiences both extremely memorable and enjoyable, and he definitely created an awesome itinerary that showcased all of the highlights of Kyoto. From the get-go, he was very flexible and willing to tailor the tour to our particular interests, and he had very good ideas for exposing us to the Japanese culture. Upon our inquiry, he was even flexible enough to extend his usual one-day Kyoto itinerary to an overnight two-day itinerary, which was highly worth the additional cost. We were able to see everything on our list in an extremely short amount of time - from shrines and temples to beautiful Japanese gardens, the bamboo forest, and even a castle! He also took us to fantastic places for lunch both days (ask him about the rotating sushi bar restaurant at Kyoto station!) and was very accommodating to make sure that he suggested restaurants according to our food preferences. And he even initiated taking pictures of us throughout the tour and sent them to us afterwards, which was very nice and unexpected. Throughout our interactions with him, Yuki was always very pleasant and polite, and he was extremely professional and well-organized. He was also always prompt in responding to us during our communications before and after the tour, and he was very punctual for all meeting times. He even picked us up and dropped us off at our hotel, so that we never had to navigate around the city alone. Because Yuki was willing to extend his typical 1-day Kyoto tour into an overnight 2-day tour of Kyoto, we were able to experience more of Kyoto and even enjoy the city during the evening. Yuki is very knowledgeable about Kyoto; not only does he know how to navigate the city from site to site, but he also knew of special experiences and things to do that we would not have known about on our own. For instance, Yuki took us to an incredibly special Japanese performing arts show that only takes place in the evening in Gion, and we were able to see real Maiko/Geiko (or Geisha) performing arts such as traditional Japanese flower arranging and a traditional Japanese tea ceremony. He also suggested a very interesting Japanese restaurant with an authentic Japanese-coursed meal that is typical of Kyoto - we even got to experience traditional tatami-style dining, where everyone takes their shoes off and sits on the floor on a tatami mat, overlooking the beautiful river and the famous Gion district (where we also got to do a little bit of shopping earlier in the evening, after the theater show!). It was truly an unforgettable experience! There is no way that we would have been able to see as much of Kyoto in such a short time if Yuki wasn't there to guide us around. He was very good at navigating us through the subways, trains, and buses all around Kyoto (and even in Tokyo on the way to Kyoto), which would have been very confusing for us to try and do on our own. Yuki is also very cautious to be clear about all expenses involved. He was very up-front about all costs, and he always offered the most economical options he could find. In fact, his price for the whole tour was extremely reasonable and was definitely a deciding factor in our decision to go to Kyoto even though we had such limited time in Japan. And now that it's all said and done, we can't imagine our time in Japan without having taken this tour to Kyoto. We had so much fun and are extremely thankful for this once-in-a-lifetime experience, and we would definitely recommend Yuki to others! Thank you Yuki!
Dear Kristen, Thank you for writing such an elaborate review of my tour. It was the best tour to Kyoto for me too. You are very generous to join me the Maiko show and Kyoto dinner near Gion. Based on this great experience, I made a two day door to door tour from Tokyo to Kyoto. Please give my best regards, to your family, too. Yuki
