We contacted Seiko the day before our tour, with our request of guiding our family of six through multiple destinations in Kyoto. She responded quickly and was quite flexible with our all of our different requests. Most importantly, she added an element of practicality in terms of which destinations would combine most conveniently so that we could enjoy them to their fullest. We visited the Kinkaku-hi golden temple and Kitano Tenmangu shrine to see the amazing Fall colors. The highlight was our Riverboat tour down the Hozu- Gawa river where the charismatic guides used a single paddle and a bamboo pole to guide us down 10 miles of river while pointing out rocks which looked like Snoopy, a seal and a lion, as well as historical sites , all the while providing an fun element of comedy. Seiko translated all of their jokes so that we felt included and laughed with all of those on the boat! At the end of the day, my son, who has traveled the world quite a bit, said that it was his single most best day of touring ever ! We also joked that we could go home the following day and feel complete with our Japan vacation as we were fully satisfied ! Thank you Seiko for an amazing time and being flexible with our dynamic family on such short term notice !
Thank you for choosing me and your kind comments on the review, Nancy. I also very much appreciated that you took all my advice of alternatives/recommendations for fall colors and am so glad to hear you all liked the places we visited! Kitano Tenmangu is particularly a special place for me as I spent my college days living behind the temple, so is Hozugawa kudari where I did many training runs for rafting races (so I always knew how beautiful and fun the river boat ride is in every season:). You were also lucky in terms of timing for fall colors and we could spot a real Geiko-san by the beautiful bridge. It was definitely my lucky and special day as well especially with a wonderful family of yours! Thank you and your family again and hope you had a great time in other cities (and onsen?) you visited in Japan. Seiko
