My friend and I booked a 6 hour custom private tour to specifically visit the Sagano bamboo forest in Arashiyama, Tenryu-ji Temple, and the Fushimi Inari Shrine in Kyoto. Shun met us at our hotel and we made our way to each spot via the train. At the Sagano bamboo forest, he mentioned that there was an option to see Okochi Denjiro's (famous past silent film actor private villa. We decided to do that and the views were great! The experience also included matcha tea overlooking the bamboo forest. ... view more

He did a great job. The tour went on time and just as promised. Spoke very good English. Gave us a very good overview of the Gion area and Kyoto nightlife. Gave us the ability to return to the area and know what we were doing. view more
Tatsuhiro is very kind and respectful. He was eager to share local insights, advice and directions on inquiries, even those unrelated to the tour. I was impressed that he was well versed with Japanese-Philippine history and felt his sincerity in wanting to better understand our culture and people. We had to put extra effort to understand his English at times. view more
Seiko has a warm enthusiastic personality and spoke excellent English. We saw beautiful and wonderous parts of both cities and loved both new and old Japan through her eyes. Thank you Seiko for such a fun visit! Will, Julia, Bob and Cheri view more
We were so fortunate to have Masaki (Makoon) as our guide for our day tour of Kyoto. Makoon's service started well before our actual tour. Makoon tended to every detail of our group's (4 adults) request via detailed emails prior to our arrival. As we were arriving by ship, Makoon personally met us at the Kobe cruise port. From the very start, we were impressed with Makoon's professional and friendly manner. He was a delight to be with from start to finish! As we had requested a PRIVATE... view more
My family and I had a 2-day personalized tour of Kyoto with Mitsuyuki-san during cherry blossom season. As we had young children with us, it was easiest to travel by car but Mitsuyuki-san made the experience even more wonderful by being flexible and allowing us to change items around to better suit the weather or ability of the children. In the end we got to see more of Kyoto than we had previously imagined and even saw some hidden gems which were not previously on our list. Mitsuyuki-san was so... view more
Yuki was an excellent guide. He met me at the Tokyo Station, and we headed out on a day trip to Kyoto. Yuki was very organized from the beginning of our tour to the end. He had meticulously planned our itinerary as to fit the most sites in to our short time in Kyoto. Communication prior to the tour was great. Yuki was also a great conversationalist, and he was obviously well versed in Japanese history. I enjoyed talking with him over the course of the tour. We had a busy day, but I greatly appre... view more
We love the flexibility of doing our own itineraries during our travels instead of joining tour groups. For Kyoto, however, I took a risk and hired a private guide with a car to make the most of our one full day in that beautiful city. It was a very smart decision that was worth the money! We were able to see some major attractions which would have been impossible without a car (and with a kid!). We were also treated to historical and cultural background stories of each site, which we would have... view more
We have Hiroshi as our guide for our day tour in Kyoto. Our first impression of him was that he was quiet and not so approachable. But soon after we reached our first destination, he started to crack jokes and gave us quizzes to help us learn about the things we saw and place we visited. It was creative and interactive. He carried a camera with him and took pictures of us at the best spots. He was also flexible and allowed us to change our places to visit very last minute. We visited Gion inste... view more
It was very comftable trip. He has his own car to take us to the inportant place we needed to visit. His english was pretty good compared to other guides I met in Japan. We had the most wonderful day with Masaki. I specified what I wanted to see in Kyoto after doing some research and he covered everything with complete knowledge of the sites including background information. He made the day fun and convenient. His knowledge of English was perfect and providing private transportation helped us to efficiently and comfortably get around without losing time. We learned so much from him and felt as if we were spending the day with a friend. He paid attention to detai... view more
