What to Expect
If you get a little bit tired of skyscrapers and subways, why not take a short day trip to Kamakura, where you can enjoy the fresh air and the spirit of Samurai? Kamakura is only an hour away from Tokyo, very easily accessed. The journey starts from Kamakura station, where we take the Enoden line, the retro looking tram. The view from the windowsill is also fascinating, you would feel like you are watching those animations from Ghibli. We are visiting the Hase-dera temple, and then the Kotoku-in temple famous for the Great Buddha statue. After visiting the Tsurugaoka-Hachimangu shrine, we will walk along the Komachi street where you can try some snacks while shopping for souvenirs.
