Mari is simply the best especially if you are considering visiting Naoshima otherwise known as the Art Island in the Inland Sea of Japan. From Shinkansen to one local train to a second local train to a ferry to a public bus to a museum bus Mari led us to the adventures of this incredible island. Believe me I needed a guide to navigate the complex process of getting there and it is worth the effort if you are interested in modern art and a peaceful island. Mari was so considerate of accommodating our special interests even as we were traveling. Mari takes that extra step to ensure our journey went well. Hiring Mari for a day of adventure at Naoshima is unforgettable.
Mari was friendly and cheerful. She tried to be on the lookout for elderly accessible services like elevators and escalators. Arranged a very nice Kobe beef lunch for all of us. She tried to ensure that we leave with the Japanese experience of the origami - paper folding and showed us how Sake is made traditionally. Also made sure we got on the correct train back to Osaka Namba although I myself almost got on the wrong one! Thanks.
Marie is cool, respectful, assertive, patient and very accommodating
Our tour is going very well as of now. Mary is very good guide we enjoyed the lunch that Mary booked for us
We were wanting to see as much as possible in Kyoto and Osaka during our limited time in Japan. Mari was great to work with and navigated us through to see as many things as possible in the 10 hour period. At the end of the tour she guided us to our last stop at the Umeida Sky tower. From there we took a taxi because the subway was too complicated for us :-). Thanks to Mari from my daughter and I for great memories on our tour!
Our family was a group of 8 people with very old and very young members so it was a nightmare to bring them to the same pace and ensure that we complete a full day itinerary. But Mari was very patient and mindful. She adjusted the tour at Kitano, originally she intended to bring us to a house on top of a hill but seeing the difficulty of the older family members to navigate the steep hill she brought us instead to 2 legacy houses that were near each other. She also patiently waited for the members of the group when they were late and looked for the young ones when they didn't make it on time to the meeting place. She was like a mother to all of us. Thank you Mari!
Naoshima is one of the small islands in Seto-Naikai Inland Sea near Okayama. It used to be just a small fishing village, but in 1992, Naoshima Art Project started.
Many buildings including museums are designed by Ando Tadao, a leading Japanese architect. It's an island of peaceful nature and contemporary art in harmony.
The island of Naoshima is located on the Seto Inland Sea. It takes only 30 minutes by ferry from Uno port (Okayama Prefecture) to Miyanoura port (Kagawa Pre.). Naoshima is famous for the special place...
