Keiko is a delightful person and a thoughtful, knowledgeable guide. We had easy and helpful communication prior to our arrival and Keiko helped us devise a plan for our short visit to Hiroshima. We are a family of 5, with children aged 16,13 and 10 - she gave us a fascinating and insightful tour of the Peace Park and Memorial museum, explaining in an accessible way - for all of us - the key historical events. This is a must see experience and made so much more memorable by Keiko’s sensitive and personal approach. Understanding our love of food & interest in trying the local cuisine she kindly took us to a local restaurant where we ate THE most fabulous okonomiyaki and were able to enjoy a truly authentic local Japanese experience. We spent a second day with Keiko to see Hiroshima castle and had also planned to visit the gardens. The castle and the Samurai history is awe inspiring and Keiko helped bring the experience to life in an unique way...also highly recommended. Unfortunately the heat proved too much for our youngest and Keiko was very flexible about changing our plans. Instead we enjoyed some delicious cold coffee and onigiri together and learnt more about Japan from her. We can’t recommend Keiko highly enough and hope to see her again on future trips.
Thank you Meg, I'm happy that you liked the okonomiyaki restaurant!! Food is one of the most important things especially traveling in a foreign country. I hope your memory in Hiroshima will become a highlight of your trip :) I was also glad that your children listened to my explanation very carefully and that they were interested in learning the history. Japan's summer is very hot. Please take care and enjoy the rest of your trip in Japan!
