We highly recommend our guide, Michiru, who was responsible and nice and created a great itinerary for us for the day. We adjusted our plans several times because of not knowing the train schedule, and we appreciated Michi's flexibility in adjusting our itinerary to fit the time we had. From the moment we saw Michi waiting for us at the train station in Hiroshima to the time we left, she took care of us and offered helpful insight into the history and experience of people in Hiroshima. In creating a presentation for us about the legacy successors and descendants of those who experienced the a-bomb and its aftermath, Michi clearly thought a lot about how to present information to help us learn about the experience in a sensitive and caring way. Her tour of the exhibits of the Peace Memorial Museum, the terrace areas outside with memorials and sculptures, and the remains of the dome building were also enlightening. For lunch, we enjoyed the Hiroshima specialty, okonomiyaki, at a nearby restaurant, and were moved by the incredible proximity of what's called the "hypocenter," the actual spot under the explosion of the bomb. In all, we learned a lot from the day and found the experience stimulating and emotional. Michi did an excellent job leading us through the day, showing us the important spots, presenting a significant amount of information about the situation in Hiroshima before and after the bomb, and taking care of us through the whole day. We certainly recommend her.
Thank you very much, Susan & Family. I really glad to be your guide in Hiroshima. Hope that we will be the last generation of meeting a-bomb witnesses. For this we need to learn the history and past. Thank you for visiting Hiroshima to learn a part of our history. Hope you come back to Hiroshima & visit Miyajima, a sacred island with me! With Lots of Love, Michi
