I had the unique pleasure of having Akiko as my guide for a tour of Seki City. When I booked the tour my emphasis was on visiting knife/cutlery factory’s and craftsman that Seki is know for, as well as visiting the Seki Sword museum. I have been on tours in Japan with other guides in the past but this one was very different. Akiko went above and beyond to make the experience as broad and encompassing as possible, highlighting site along the way such as various temples and shrines, with an e... view more
Akiko is such a wonderful and generous guide. I travelled to Japan to specifically learn how to make fake food, as I am an artist myself. Akiko called up the fake food workshops for me to organise meetings with the managers and staff. When I met with her she had even done her own research at the library on fake food and showed me the books she borrowed and translated them for me. Akiko interpreted the conversations I had with staff with great fluency and was incredibly patient. We had a wonde... view more
My husband and I had a most informative and enjoyable tour of Hida-Takayama with Yoko guiding our way. She is very knowledgeable about the area and made our time with her go by very fast because she is so personable and kind as well as knowledgeable. Having Yoko take us to the morning market was a treat because we were able to find out about the different foods that were there to be sampled. We enjoyed the historical and cultural sites more because Yoko provided us with additional information ... view more
Weeks prior to my actual arrival Akiko san was already in constant contact preparing for my visit and gathering information about what I desired from her services as a guide. Options changed constantly as she diligently made plans to ensure that my wishes were met. Unfortunately the event that I was supposed to meet her for was canceled due to a very large typhoon. Akiko kept in contact until the very end when it became obvious that there was no other viable alternative due to the typhoon... view more

Well-organized, good group control. Very knowledgeable about Japan, and excellent skills at relating it. Sometimes difficulty with communication due to soft and relatively high-pitched voice! Would use again view more

We had a very enjoyable 4 hours of hiking in the valley and woods between Magome and Tsumago, or what is known as the Nakasendo trail, with Tetsuji-San. Since the planning stage, Tetsuji answered every question that we had and he suggested route and things to do. He was thorough in his planning. When we met, he gave us brochures and other printed materials about the history of the trail as well as the village, Tsumago, where we will spend a night. Once we arrived at the village where ... view more
Yuriko is a soft spoken and well informed guide. We experienced an active and exhilarating day hiking from Magome and returned after spending a part of the afternoon at a museum on the art of woodblock painting. Yuriko did not seem to be in a hurry to finish her day with me and in fact, spent an extra two hours past her allotted time. She made sure to drop me off at my hotel even though she had to travel 40 minutes after that to get home. She made some interesting dinner suggestions. Highly re... view more
We are a group of 5 people from Malaysia. Akiko san was our tour guide in Gifu for 2 days ie 18 & 19 May 2019. I have travelled extensively throughout the whole world with the help of many tour guides. Of them all , I found Akiko to be the most courteous and polite! She worked very hard for us and always answered my queries promptly and effectively. Not only she planned the entire itinerary for us , she also advised us on the most cost effective way to travel to our destination before and aft... view more
We did the Magome to Tsugama section of the nakasendo trail tetsuji arrive punctually at the hotel where we stayed to meet us and the meat are we to magome efficiently and quickly without any delays and extremely comfortable SB decided to choose riding reserved seats in the train. Also he advised a taxi from the train station to the start point so as to not wait more than 20 minutes for the next bus. It was good advise as we had lots more time to enjoy the trek.
