Customer Reviews for Akita Tours

We arrived in Akita aboard a cruise ship with 5 hours for touring. Our main interest was visiting the Shrine of Our Lady of Akita. Miwi met us at the dock with an enthusiastic welcome that matched her bright style. She understood well our priorities and planned perfectly. Besides the Shrine, there was a special coffee house and and the opportunity to taste local highly reputed Sakes. With excellent English and great communication skills, she gave us a full understanding of the region, town ... view more

Miwi is a bundle of energy and joy and I was grateful that I booked her for my tour. If I could have added more days to my tour, I would have added more days in Akita and hired Miwi for the extra days. She is full of spirit and has a great love for her country and especially Akita. Make sure to see the Namahage Museum and enjoy the performance there. view more

As a seasoned ocean cruise traveler, who along with my wife have used many different private tour guides for our numerous shore excursions, Miwi is arguably the best private tour guide we ever had. She speaks excellent English and is very knowledgeable about Akita and it's surrounding areas. Her expert commentary on the samurai house, the tea house visit and lunch, and the beautiful Tazawako Lake are all memorable. The highlight of our tour was the walk through the Dakigaeri Gorge to th... view more

Toru did a great job of helping us pick sights to see as well as lunch location. We had a good discussion with the head of a Buddhist temple. The Oga Peninsula was a great place to visit. We were also able to see the competition during the day for the Akita Kanto Festival. We definitely recommend him to others and would utilize his services in the future. view more

Toru met as planned in the arrival hall and quickly guided us to the shuttle transport to the train station, because a special train had been laid on by Akita town, and the first 100 passengers were free! We wre amongst the 100! Our guide was easy to talk to and his English was good. He showed us the sites of Akita, which he & I had discussed via e-mail. He was very concerned that we visisted a Japanese restaurant that served gluten free products because my wife is a ceoliac. He succeeded an... view more

Nobu made valuable suggestions at the planning stages to enable informed decisions. On a wet, rainy and cold day when we travelled from Morioka to the Naruko and Gembikei gorges, he was a ray of sunshine by his polite manner, detailed information about the area and considerate attention he paid to the group before the sun actually graced the Naruko gorge with its presence. We had a very pleasant day with Nobu. Wishing him all the very best in life and his profession. view more
