In this tour you meditate at Zen temple early morning, eat fresh sushi breakfast around Tsukiji Fish Market and experience tea ceremony at tea house.

What to Expect

There is a Japanese word 'Tea and Zen are one taste'. This means tea and Zen are different activity, but their mental attitude and approach are the same.
In this tour, I planned these two activities to make you feel the depth of Japanese culture.

First, we visit Zen Buddhism temple and practice meditation. You focus on the breath and yourself in the present moment that give concentration and calmness of your mind.

Then we go to Tsukiji area to have breakfast.

After that we go to tea house to experience tea ceremony.
Tea master prepares tea by highly stylized manner called 'Temae'. You have Japanese sweet and tea in very settled atmosphere and learn spirit of Japanese culture influenced by Zen philosophy. Viewing a teahouse and tea utensils is one of the enjoyment as well.
Since I have been learning Tea Ceremony about 6 years I’m pleased to tell you the history of ‘Chado’ (the way of tea) and its aesthetics.

Below is the time schedule:
6:30 am : Meet at the No.2 ticket gate of Hiroo Station (Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line)
7:00 am - 8:00 am : Meditate at Zen temple
Eat breakfast around Tsukiji fish market (If you don't want to eat sushi for breakfast I can arrange different meal according to your request).
10:00 am - 10:40 am Tea ceremony

Hi, I am Hiromi, a National licensed guide in English. I joined TripleLight May 2017. I studied in England and U.S. during my 20s and 30s. I graduated college in NY. While I lived in overseas and experiencing different culture, I had chances to look at Japanese culture from the outside. And I realized its richness and uniqueness. Experiencing different culture was like discovering my own culture.
I live west part of Tokyo with my husband. Whenever we have time we like traveling. Also I have been practicing tea gathering (tea ceremony) about 5 years.
In Tokyo, there exist traditional culture as well as pop culture. There are so many places I would like to show you.
It’s my pleasure to introduce you exquisite part of Tokyo. Let’ enjoy exploring TOKYO with me! I’m looking forward to sharing memorable experience with you. read more

“ Wonderful morning in Tokyo ”

We had a great time with Hiromi exploring Tokyo. We were very lucky with the January weather and had sunny blue skies so she took us to a lovely park and explained the history behind it. Given that it was January 2nd and many tea houses were closed Hiromi was very limited with her options for finding us an open tea house. She found a wonderful tea ceremony perched high up in a hotel downtown which was completely authentic. Would 100% recommend Hiromi's services to anyone visiting Tokyo. Thank you!
