What to Expect

Gujo town is located in 1 hour drive from Takayama, and famous for Gujo dance festival, abundant water spring, and Gujo-Hachiman Castle. It is quite small town, but beautifully surrounded by mountains and water stream everywhere in town, with well-preserved traditional buildings and houses. It is not crowded like Takayama or Shirakawago, so you can enjoy the calmness of rural countryside with beautiful scenery of Japanese traditional scene.

This town is also famous for food replica workshops, as they produce most of the food replica products found in Japan. It looks so real that you may bite it for tasting! This tour gives you the chance to enjoy food replica making in special workshop, and also guided walking tour in town, passing by well-known clean water spring(Sogi sui water spring, designated as one of the 100 most clean and beautiful water spring in Japan). The tour also covers the visit to Gujo-Dance museum where you can see the actual dancing performances, and learn how to dance. Gujo-dance is performed during July-August dance festivals, dancing continues almost 1 month every day and night, one of the longest period of dancing festival in Japan.
