What to Expect
Hakkoda Ropeway is a highlight of the tourism of Towada Hachimantai National Park.
Required time to summit station of Tamoyachi-dake(Alt. 1,324m) is 10 minutes one way and Ropeway has been operating throughout the year.
If the sky is clear, You can overlook Mt.Iwaki, not only mountains of Hakkoda, but also Aomori city and Mutsu Bay, Tsugaru Peninsula, Shimokita Peninsula from the summit station.
Best time to see the autumn foliage is, in late-September to mid October.
This swamp is located in the altitude of around 1,000m along the Hakkoda Gold line.
There’s observatory with a superb view that the range of Mt. Hakkoda is reflected on the surface of the pond .
Best season of this swamp is late June that azalea become in full bloom and early October that autumn foliage are their best.
Oirase Gorge (Keiryu)
Oirase Keiryu (mountain stream) is a river of about 14km flowing from Nenokuchi of Lake Towada to Yakeyama.
There are lots of trees and a dozen locations of waterfalls.
Beautiful rivers flow and a variety of rock formations make this gorge more attractive.
Trail along the river is maintained well.
Best time to see the autumn foliage is late October, a lot of hikers and tourists visit here at this time.
Lake Towada is the world’s largest double caldera lake and surrounded by steep cliffs.
Pleasure cruiser cruises between Nenokuchi and Yasumiya. The rate is JPY1400 per adult.
Guriland also operates Japan’s first RIB(Rigid Inflatable Boat) tour in special protected areas of the lake surrounded by this cliffs.

You can choose small boat or cruiser at the lake depending on time and money.
In the summer season the lake water shines in emerald green, Autumn foliage of the lake cliff is wonderful.
Season of Autumn foliage is late October.

If you go to the following spots, the staying time at each spot might decreases.
Snow corridor appears on Hakkoda Gold Line (road of Mt.Hakkoda) at end of March every year.
Road of Hakkoda Gold Line between Sukayu Onsen and Yachi Onsen close during every winter due to heavy snow.
The road is cleared away the snow in March and reopened in April.
You can see the corridor by beginning of May.
Autumn Foliage of Tsuta-numa pond
There are seven ponds between Mt.Hakkoda and Oirase Gorge, Tsuta-numa pond is the biggest one of seven.
This pond is located in a 10-minutes walk from the parking and surrounded by virgin forest of beech.
You can see a superb view of the southern Hakkoda that is reflected on the surface of a pond.
Autumn Foliage of Jogakura bridge
Jogakura Bridge was built in 1995. You can see a nice view of a range of Mt. Hakkoda and Jogakura gorge on the bridge.
This bridge is known as a spot of autumn foliage and it is crowded with tourists and photographers in mid October .
