Washoku is a Japanese cuisine which is designated as the Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO. Our traditional dietary cultures is associated with an essential spirit of respect for nature, meaning the sustainable use of natural resources.
Natural resources means various natural, locally sourced ingredients such as rice, fish, vegetables and edible wild plants.
Washoku is relatively a low-calorie food. It features well-balanced nutrients.
Also spirit of Washoku is communication between the person who cooks and the person who eats. By thanking and showing appreciation to the delicious, nutritious and beautiful dishes, cooks and chefs feel rewarded and filled with satisfaction.
About Washoku Restaurant Kamakurayama Club
The building and grounds used to belong to a celebrity in Tokyo. 3 years ago the present owner bought it and remodeled it to an authentic Japanese Washoku restaurant. The chef changes the menu every month. The chef creates the course menue to reflect the season. Tablewares are meticulously selected to accentuate the seasonal dishes. I went to the restaurant Aug 10,2015. I took some pictures of lunch course consisting of 8 dishes.Please take a close look at each food and plate. You will be inspired! Lunch costs about 50US$.
