Tokyo Romantic Illumination

It's December and it's His season!!

Shimbashi is known as the station of the first train line in Japan.  A locomotive is displayed in front of the station to commemorate  this first step of Japanese modernization. This locomotive is the icon of Shimbashi and serves as very popular meeting spot like "faithful dog Hachiko" in Shibuya.

Now the locomotive is decorated with  illumination inspired by this winter season.

Look!! Someone is inside the locomotive!!

(Let's sing!!) Santa Claus is coming to  Shimbashi...

He is coming in locomotive instead of sled. Modern Santa, isn't he?

Shimbashi is also known as popular night spot with a lot of reasonable Izakaya. This place is often called as "Salary Man Paradise". If you want I can introduce one of Izakaya there to finish your day after my tour.

This illumination is untill January 7.

“ Our Tokyo tour with Mack - Simply the BEST ”

Excellent
1 month ago Traveler: Kim -   Tour Guide: Mack

To put it simply, booking a tour with Mack was the best thing we could have done! We spent two days under Mack’s expert guidance and visited many wonderful sights of Tokyo by foot and rail. Mack taught us how to use the subway and JR lines which set us up beautifully for the rest of our trip to Hiroshima and Kyoto which we did on our own. Mack sent us a well prepared itinerary before we ar...

“ Mack is the best ”

Excellent
2 months ago Traveler: Sumant -   Tour Guide: Mack

Mack picked us up from our Airbnb and took us around Tokyo. He came up with a plan to optimize the day we had and completed everything. But most importantly he showed us how to use the subway system to get around in Tokyo. He also planned our trip to Mt Hakone and sent it in writing giving us clear instructions. I would ask Mack for help anytime.

“ To Tokyo and Beyond ”

Excellent
2 months ago Traveler: Anna -   Tour Guide: Mack

It was a pleasure to have Mack as our tour guide in Tokyo. As first timers in Japan, we had little idea on how we can maximize our stay in Japan. Even if we just booked him for only one and a half day, Mack had been indeed, very helpful in every step of the way. He would go the extra mile to make sure that we take the right train, always updating us and concerned of our whereabouts throughout our...

“ Great Hidden Gems Tour! ”

Excellent
6 months ago Traveler: Eric -   Tour Guide: Mack

We had a fantastic experience with Mack. He is very knowledgeable, helpful and showed us some great hidden gems that we would not have otherwise seen. He created a perfect 6 hour tour including temples and shrines in Yanesen, a great ramen lunch and a tour and happy hour in the district we were staying in Kaguruzaka. I also enjoyed the historical context that Mack gave along the way, very interest...

Had a wonderful experience with Mack. He went all the way to ensure that we are comfortable and taken care off...his good command of English as well as advance preparation made our trip very meaningful...last minute requests were also accommodated without fail. Since we are Muslims , he ensured that we had Halal food throughout the trip. He also had huge patience considering that we had a 3 year ...

“ Enlightening Japanese History ”

Very Good
7 months ago Traveler: Cristina -   Tour Guide: Mack

The tour provides an in depth information of Japanese history which was quite enlightening. We visited the Asakusa Temple, Ueno Park, Meiji Shrine, Imperial Palace and the Tokyo Metropolitan Gov't Building. It was a long tour but well worth the time and effort in 7 hours. We also experienced riding the Tokyo subway and train system which was quite an eye opener. We would be lost without Mack, ...

“ For the Best "Hidden Gem" Tour of Tokyo -- Pick Mack! ”

Excellent
8 months ago Traveler: Neil -   Tour Guide: Mack

Mack gave us a first class tour of Tokyo. We wanted to avoid the tourist traps. We wanted a "Hidden Gem" tour -- and we got it! Mack took us to some very unusual places. We joined a Buddhist ceremony (drums and all). We wandered through narrow streets in old neighbourhoods of Tokyo surrounded by wooden homes. We had a traditional tea ceremony in one of these homes. And -- we visited some unique ar...

Really well organized tour and well timed so we could fit in everything Mack planned for the day. Mack even went to the trouble of doing a pre visit to the fish markets to ensure we could get front row for the Tuna cutting.
