Tokyo Disneyland & DisneySea Tips - Tickets, Crowds and Transportation

by Kenzia

Two of the most popular spots in Tokyo for not only tourists but also locals is the Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea. With Disneyland’s popularity, located in some countries across the world, the one located in Tokyo is a must visit if you came to Japan. It has its own attractions that can't be found in any other Disney Park elsewhere.

I know that even though Japan’s transport system is very efficient, it can be very confusing or inconvenient especially if you are traveling with kids. If you don't know how to travel to Tokyo Disneyland, don’t worry. With so much information available on the internet, it only takes a short time to figure out how.

In this article, I’m going to share with you when’s the best time to go to Tokyo Disneyland , details about the theme park's ticket purchases, how to travel to Tokyo Disneyland, and more recommendations. So, keep reading!

Tokyo Disneyland & DisneySea Tips - Tickets, Crowds and Transportation

Tokyo Disneyland, one of the theme park of Tokyo Disney Resort, is one of the most popular theme parks in Japan. It is located in Urayasu, Chiba Prefecture, near Tokyo, successfully attracting millions of tourists each year.

Tokyo Disneyland is divided into 7 themed areas with a total of 43 different attractions, 53 merchandise shops and 53 food and beverage outlets. There are many different attractions to match people of different ages.

Point is...?

Tokyo Disneyland is the perfect place for anyone. Not only for families with children but also couples, friend groups or anyone!

So, wouldn’t you want to be part of it? To visit and see for yourself what makes Tokyo Disneyland so popular? Here’s how to make your travel to Tokyo Disneyland more interesting.

When’s the best time to visit Tokyo Disneyland?

Look:

It is important to determine when you should visit Tokyo Disneyland to make the most out of your trip. It can get very crowded, so find the right dates to visit to make it a satisfying trip.

You would want to visit Tokyo Disneyland when it's less crowded and when the weather is great, not too cold and not too hot. You might not know what day is better to visit Tokyo Disneyland, or what's the time when the weather is pretty good, I've got you covered.

The obvious way to avoid bigger crowds is not to visit during the weekends or national holidays. Visit during the weekdays for lesser crowds, but keep in mind that Monday is usually the busier weekday. Even so, it can get busier in some months.

Busier times

  • Winter break, end of December into the first week of January
  • Spring break, around mid-March to early April
  • End of April into the first week of May
  • Summer break, late July to end of August

Lower crowds

  • Starting from the second week of January
  • February
  • May, after the Golden Week

More comfortable months (weather-wise)

  • April (average temp of 14°C / 57°F)
  • May (average temp of 18 ° C/ 64 ° F)
  • September (average temp of 23°C/ 73°F)

Events for 2018

  • January- March: Anna and Elsa’s Frozen Fantasy
  • July-August: Summer event
  • September-October: Halloween event
  • November-December: Christmas event

Click Crowd Calendar for more information regarding the crowds in Tokyo Disneyland throughout the year.

Tokyo Disneyland Tickets

My tip is always to purchase the ticket in advance. You can purchase the tickets right before you enter, but save your time by not having to queue. Just to buy the tickets, the queue for the ticket booths can get very long.

You can purchase Tokyo Disneyland tickets online, through the Tokyo Disneyland official website. You can purchase the tickets from selected Disney Stores and also convenience stores like Lawson and Family Mart (but it's in Japanese, so I don't really recommend it).

Keep in mind that the purchase is only up to 60 days, so don’t buy too far in advance.

How much does the ticket cost?

Keep in mind that the 2-day, 3-day, and 4-day passports are not only for Disneyland, but also for Tokyo DisneySea. It takes only around 15 minutes to go between Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea with bus or Disney Resort Line.

How to exchange tickets?

Keep in mind that cancellations are not allowed. For tickets purchased online, you can change the date of visit, ticket type, age category for the tickets, and also the park to be visited, online through the Reservations Purchases History page on the Tokyo Disney official website.

However, tickets that are delivered to your home cannot be changed online. You can visit Tokyo Disneyland and bring your tickets before the expiration date to make changes. Keep in mind that there may be handling fees.

Extra tips for a great trip to Tokyo Disneyland

Here are some extra tips for your a better experience in Tokyo Disneyland

– Arrive early to have more time to enjoy more rides

– Get fast passes for the attractions you want to ride most/ crowded ones first

– Ride the attractions during showtimes as most people would choose to enjoy the parades

– Ride the attractions near the closing time, as most people would probably leave already or buying souvenirs in the shops to bring back

– Claim a spot for parades 1-2 hours before it starts if you want a good spot to enjoy the parades

Tokyo Disneyland with kids?

Tokyo Disneyland is the perfect travel spot especially if you have kids. With the smaller and less extreme rides, merchandise shops that sell toys and other cute Disney-related things for kids, Disney-themed food outlets with cute shaped food, parades, and many costumed characters all across the theme park, it's a paradise for kids! Children can even wear costumes like princes or princesses in the park.

Inside Tokyo Disneyland alone, it's not difficult to enjoy the theme park with children, but the traveling between the place you are staying to Tokyo Disneyland can be troublesome. That's why I don't really recommend taking the train or bus to get to Tokyo Disneyland if you are traveling with kids. I recommend taking private car transfers for a hassle-free trip.

How to travel to Tokyo Disneyland?

If you want to visit Tokyo Disneyland, you might not know how, but don't worry.

Japan’s transport system is very convenient. So, getting to Tokyo Disneyland won’t be a hard thing to do. There are many ways you can get to Tokyo Disneyland, for the complete guide to travel to Tokyo Disneyland, click ways to go to Tokyo Disneyland from 6 popular places in Tokyo.

A more convenient way to travel to Tokyo Disneyland?

However, if you are traveling with children, or the elderly, traveling by trains or bus may not be the best option for you. It can be difficult and troublesome to change lines or trains. So, how can you go to Tokyo Disneyland without hassle?

If you travel by train, it can be inconvenient as you have to change lines or trains along the way. If you travel by bus, you are time-restricted as buses have their own schedule. It’s not flexible, as you would have to leave the park before the last bus leaves. Taxi is always a choice, but it can get very expensive, depending on where you are staying. When you leave the park, tired and probably with many shopping bags, it would be a bigger hassle if you ride by train or bus, or have to look for taxis.

So...?

If you want convenience, flexibility, and a fixed price, go with a car transfer service. With this transfer service, you will be picked up and drop off from and to your hotel with a fixed price. You can just sit tight and you’ll arrive at Tokyo Disneyland. After a long day at Tokyo Disneyland, you don’t have to trouble yourself looking for transportation to bring you back to your hotel as you will be dropped off back safely.

Not only it’s convenient, flexible, and easy, it is also private. It will be more comfortable for you especially if you are traveling with kids or elderly.
