Today, I visited the State Guest House in Minato ward's Akasaka district for the first time. This facility bagan to open to the public all the year-round from April in 2016. As I wrote in my previous blog, the father of Japanese modern architecture was a British architect, Josiah Conder(1852-1920). This building was designed by his student, Tokuma Katayama(1854-1917) and completed in 1909. It has been officially the State Guest House since 1974. Inside the building, the whole interior and its decoration is beyond description. In short, it is elegant and gorgeous. If you are interested in this building, I would like to make a tour plan to visit there. I also recommend you join my tour, Discovery of Japan's modern architecture & Gardens as another plan in Tokyo. Why don't you join me?
