The Charm of Kyoto part1(2-5)

The charm of Kyoto lies in its cultural diversity.

It used to be the capital of Japan.

The Charm of Kyoto part1 ( 2 - 5 )

Emperor Kanmu moved the capital from Nara to Kyoto in the end of the 8th century.

Emperors lived here for more than 1,000 years.

It had been the center of culture and art as well as government.

The Charm of Kyoto part1 ( 2 - 5 )

The biggest crisis occurred in the Second World War.

Kyoto was targeted as a city of bombing.

Some people insisted that they should destroy it with their atomic bomb.

But the United States was aware of its cultural and historical values.

If they had attacked it, the whole city would have disappeared from the world together with its important heritages. Almost all buildings were made of wood.

The Charm of Kyoto part1 ( 2 - 5 )

People can rebuild their lost houses, but historical structures will never return.

Japanese people would be sad for it and angry with the United States.

The leaders of the US never admitted the bombing of the ancient capital.

It was lucky enough to be saved from bombing.

Now you can see many historical structures and artwork.

Because It is blessed with natural beauties, you may enjoy Kyoto in anytime of the year.

The Charm of Kyoto part1 ( 2 - 5 )

It has traditional industries, but it is also a modern, academic, industrial city.

Many of the buildings have been designated as a World Heritage Site. They are not for Japanese people but for people all over the world as well.

I don’t think we would have appreciated Kyoto without Masaki. He really helped us understand the history and the importance of Kyoto to the rest of Japan. Besides being very informative, he was extremely flexible and caring We were a rough crowd of five different personalities and ages from the United States and he was able to keep our attention and make sure that we got what we needed from the ...

I simply can not say enough about Masaki and his skill as a tour guide. Not in a million years would we had been able to see so many beautiful sights in Kyoto without his ability to move us from place to place, purchasing entry tickets without hassle but also knowing the fastest ways in & out plus the timing of our arrivals & exits were spot on. Masaki & Steve had quite a long conversation about...

He made the whole thing easier. I am glad we had him. He also provided in depth info about Kyoto through information that he put together in a bookle...

We experienced a most relaxing yet educational day with Masaki, touring the sites of Uji, home of matcha. Because my husband’s mobility and energy was compromised, Masaki chose this outing for its length and flat terrain, plus he is very atuned to the history there. He was most patient with our challenges yet delivered a wonderful tour.
