Sumo Wrestlers are not always in Tokyo

Some might think that if you come to Tokyo, you can see Sumo Wrestling, but that is not the case.
Sumo tournaments are held in Tokyo in January, May and September; in Osaka in March, in Nagoya in July, and in Kyushu in November.  They also have tours in between.
Before the tournaments, they move to neighboring practice place near each venue, so they would often be out of Tokyo.

Sumo is quite popular that they are usually full house.  The tickets are extremely hard to get.

If you're planning to see it, you could book online.

http://www.sumo.or.jp/En/

The tickets for January Tokyo tournament will be sold from December 8th.  Basically they are sold out.

(We are not a travel agency dealing with Sumo tickets.)

Yoko was an excellent tour guide. She devised a tour with our interests as well as “must sees” as a newbie to Japan. Yoko is extremely organized and knowledgeable. Our time with her was well spent. We learned a lot and would definitely recommend Yoko for an enjoyable tour of Tokyo.

We had a good day with Yoko exploring all aspects of our local surroundings as per an itinerary we had designed. The day was cold and eventually wet, but we continued through our itinerary despite the elements. It was a long day but we managed to see everything that we had set out to see and explore. Yoko was very knowledgeable and was able to provide the context details that made the journey m...

“ Family trip on Tokyo ”

Very Good

Yoko was very knowledgeable and very patient with my youngest who complained all day about walking. She took us to soo many different sights and taught us about why the Japanese do what they do and showed us how to cleanse ourselves before entering a temple. Sometimes she did walk super fast ahead of us and would be talking so we couldn’t hear but she was overall amazing.

“ Great intro to Japan ”

Very friendly and good navigator. I liked her knowledge of current Japanese pop culture and never made me feel stupid for asking questions. She had lots of little tidbits that were helpful, like the story of the 7 thieves. She did seem somewhat flustered by our American habits, I hope she forgives us. She also had to be prompted with questions rather than volunteering the info, perhaps this is cul...

“ The Best Part of Tokyo is Nikko ”

Excellent

Let me start by saying Yoko speaks English well with little to no accent which is a huge plus in a guide. She is knowledgeable in Japanese history. We spent an entire day with her and she introduced us to the amazing sites at Nikko. If you want to experience Japanese history (2hr trip from Tokyo) a visit to Nikko is a must and you can not go wrong with Yoko.
