Today, I went to a shooting of NHK's music program, "Songs of Tokyo."
(An invitation & NHK Broadcasting Center)
Two of my all-time favourite artists, KANJANI8 and YOSHIKI of X JAPAN, performed brilliant bilingual shows.
During KJ8's live performance, Ryo NISHIKIDO, one of the lead vocalists & composers of the boyband, shouted out proudly in fluent English(!) that they were from OSAKA, as their group name signified. (KAN-JANI literally means an abbreviation of "KANSAI-originated JOHNNY's artists." "Johnny's & Associates" is the most prestigious all-male agent in a Japanese show biz world.)
His remarks made me so proud of being as an Osakan fan.
What really impressed me the most, however, was their aggressive setlist! Most of the songs were chosen from their album or B-side(coupling track) of their megahit single CDs.
Although they could have sung their signature hit tunes, such as Zukkoke Otoko Michi or Musekinin Hero, as a “safe choice,” they skillfully selected songs that were rather experimental, challenging, but perfectly matching the program’s international atmosphere.
As a result, the versatile men successfully changed their stereotyped image of "lame local comedians" into "bonna-fide entertainers."
Kudos to my hometown heroes!(｀・з・)ノＵ☆Ｕヽ(・ω・´)

The program will be aired globally by "NHK World" channel on January 1 & 2 at 7am in JST next year.
If you are interested in them or Japan at large, please come to Osaka, their hometown, and join my tour.
