I visited Shirakawa-go with 14 Indonesians on April 25th. Lively carp streamers were swinging in the wind in front of a thatched farm house. Actually a carp is the symbol of successful career. May 5th is a Cildren's day (national holiday) , so some families put carp streames on the pole in prayer for the healthy growth of children.
Cherry Blossom Viewing
Among cherry blossoms, there are early bloomes, standard bloomers, and late bloomers. We could enjoy viewing beautiful late bloomers called "yaezakura", or double cherry blossoms.
