Pet Arctic Animals at the Nagasaki Penguin Aquarium

by Mieke - TripleLights travel specialist

The main attraction of this aquarium is of course, the penguins.
However, apart from the eight different species of penguins, the facility keeps
Mekong giant catfish, Golden mandarin fish, Japanese horseshoe crab, Clownfish,
and other cute fish. In summer, the penguins can take a dive in the sea
from the adjacent beach. The coolest thing about this museum in my opinion is,
that the penguins are really up-close in open areas, so if you’re lucky and find a
penguin that takes a liking to you, you can pet real life penguins!

2 weeks ago Traveler: Yean -   Tour Guide: Yoshiko

A very polite and pleasant guide with strong command of spoken Enlish. She planned a wonderful one day programme for our group of four. Visits to all places of interest were unrushed, and all questions more than adequately addressed. She was accommodating to our last minute requests, so that we could see the famous Nagasaki night view from Mt Inasaya. To top it all, she even helped to arrange for ...

Review by Jo: Hitomi is a marvelous guide: thoughtful, thorough, knowledgeable and flexible. She was able to adjust to the fact that she was guiding 3 folks in their 70’s with walking issues and provide us with doable experiences. We had a wonderful lunch at an historic Nagasaki restaurant mid-day that was so much fun. She has a great sense of humor and we would not hesitate to use Hitomi again...

Yuko tailored our visit perfectly according to our needs. Yuko met us at the port in Nagasaki and helped us buy our tram tickets. We visited the A-bomb Museum and Peace Park, Dejima as well as a shopping area. It was a perfect tour of Nagasaki for us, our daughter got to dress up in a Kimono and Yuko was very patient and aware of how much the children (aged 6&8) could handle. Yuko has great Englis...
