The Peony Garden in Tsurugaoka Hachiman Shrine
This garden is a Japanese stroll-type garden constructed in 1980 to commemorate the 800th anniversary of the foundation of Tsurugaoka Hachiman Shrine. In this garden there are 1000 peonies of 100 different types planted, which bloom twice a year, in spring from April to May and in winter from beginning of January to the end of February. The spring peonies can be enjoyed until the beginning of May.
The peonies at Hase Temple
Hase Temple is the second oldest temple in Kamakura enshrining the eleven-headed Kannon statue of 30 feet tall. The temple is also famous for its beautiful garden with seasonal flowers all year around. And now is the time for peonies. They are breathtakingly beautiful and are waiting for your visit!
