Not Too Hot, Not Too Cold

by Mieke - TripleLights travel specialist

The temperature in autumn in Japan is just right: not too hot, not too cold, but complimented by a fair amount of sunshine. You miss the humid, hot summer. This season can be survived only with the help of ‘cooling gel’ and the occasional flight into a convenience store with maximum force airco. Also, you can evade winter, which is also not too bad, but it can get cold, and you run the risk of getting stuck in your hotel because public traffic stops running when snow falls (which is something my friend experienced for some 3 days in winter 2013). Spring is another popular season to visit the country because of the sakura blooming. But the colourful sights of autumn can definitely compete with that if you ask me. In autumn, you can enjoy the lingering summer heat and still walk outside at night with only a t-shirt on (and maybe a pair of pants if you want to avoid getting arrested).

We started the day with Keiko meeting us at our hotel and assisting us with purchasing transportation tickets. From Shinjuku we went on to Asakusa and visited the temples and shops leading into it. Visited the Shinto shrine here also. Next we had lunch together where Keiko made excellent suggestions for my fussy family who all loved their lunch. On to Ginza where we stopped by Nissan and hubby go...

I spent two back to back days with Kaori and it was one of my best travel decisions, ever!! I booked Kaori for my first two nights in the city. As I was flying over the Pacific I was wondering what I was thinking since I was going to be jet lagged and I should have booked for day 3&4. Was I ever wrong. Traveling by myself I really had no idea what exactly I was going to do and how I was going to g...

We met Chizuru promptly at 9.30 am in our hotel lobby. Our day was well organised and the timing of our visits to The Peace Museum and Miyajuma were not hurried. Chizuru speaks excellent English and is very knowledgeable. She went out of her way to help us buy some items in the supermarket after our trip. We thank her very much and would recommend Chizuru as a guide. J and K

We had an interesting time with Hugh. He picked us up at our hotel, took us to the bomb/peace site where we learned a great deal. We also discussed life in Japan vs life in Australia. We had lunch with Hugh and then he took us back to our hotel. On our visit to Japan we have done several other tours but gained many useful and different insights from Hugh.
