Annual Event in November, Shichigosan

On a fine day in November, I saw some lovely children in kimono at Tsurugaokahachimangu Shrine in Kamakura. This is a scene of annual event in November called Shichigosan. Shichigosan literally means 7,5,3. These are the numbers of children's ages. Japanese people celebrate children's growth  at their ages. Girls are celebrated at the age of 3 and 7, and boys are 3 and 5. Children and their parents dress up and visit local shrine to pray their health and happiness.  This is a special day for a family.
