Hakkoda consists of a series of 1,300 – 1585 meter (4,265 - 5200 ft) high mountains, extending from Aomori city to Lake Towada.  Hakkoda Ropeway (cable car) goes to 1,324 meter (4,343 ft) high Tamoyachi Peak in 10 minutes.  The round trip fare for the ropeway is 1,850 yen.   It takes about one hour by JR bus from JR Aomori or Shin Aomori Staton to Hakkoda Ropeway bus stop.  If the weather permits and the ropeway is operational, you can have a panoramic view of Hakkoda mountain range, Aomori City, Mutsu Bay, and Mt. Iwaki, or even Hokkaido Island.  From the Tamoyachi Peak ropeway station, you can also take either 30 minutes walk or 60 minutes walk in the Tamoyachi marshland.   The ropeway operates every 20 minutes.  For details, check http://www.hakkoda-ropeway.jp

Akiko's English is excellent - the best of any guide we encountered in a 3 week tour through Asia. She was well organized, exceedingly pleasant and arranged a perfect day for us. Our experience began with great communications prior to our departure arranging a private itinerary, Akiko provided immediate answers to any questions. She was interesting and informative. Everything she had arranged was ...

“ Akiko went the extra mile to ensure we enjoyed our trip ”

Akiko spent a lot of time organising and researching so that we had a perfect day. We had a fabulous time and enjoyed the special effort made by Akiko. Our agenda went smoothly and we had the best opportunity to spend time at the Samurai houses with the families before it became busy. I would recommend Akiko to anyone looking for a tour as you will be very well looked after.
