Falconry Parade

The name of the festival is 鷹狩り行列 (takagari gyoretsu) in Japanese.

The festival will be held in a small castle town Iwatsuki in Saitama city.

November 3. 13:00-15:30.

Falconry Parade

The highlight of the festival is a scene that a feudal lord of the town welcomed Tokugawa Ieyasu when he visited the town. It is one of the actual events that occurred many years ago.

Ieyasu was the founder of the Tokugawa Shogunate about 400 years ago. He often came to the town for hawking which means hunting using a falcon.

More than 100 people from the town will parade in samurai’s costumes or in beautiful traditional kimonos. They will dance and act out the historical events.

Falconry Parade

Why don't you visit Iwatsuki and enjoy the atmosphere of the Edo period of Japan.

We had a great time going around Shinjuku Park & Akiba in Tokyo and going to the Iwako eraser factory in Saitama with Chieko. My sister had been wanting to visit the factory since she was young - we couldn't have had such a wonderful & amazing experience without Chieko's help. Chieko an excellent guide - she is very friendly & reliable and is also very knowledgeable about Tokyo and its surround...

My experience with Chieko was awesome! She is a very experience guide. She did her homework well before meeting up with me so that to make sure I have a smooth tour. She speaks well and is very bubbly and friendly. My stay in Tokyo was a short one, hence, I didn't have enough time to visit all the places I wish to but I definitely plan to go back to Tokyo again and I will make a reservation wit...

Chieko designed a special tour for my 13-year-old son so that he could visit sites that specialized in Pokemon, video games, etc. She even did a test run before our visit because it was something new for her. Our son had a wonderful time and learned a lot about Japanese culture thanks to Chieko. She was wonderful!

Chieko was great. She was very personally and took me around for a half day tour around Tokyo. We went to a festival that only happens once a year which was amazing. She also showed me how to pray and what it all means. This was my first time in Tokyo and I feel as if she really helped me get the lay of the land. I would definitely recommend her.

Chieko took our group around Tokyo according to our defined schedule. The trip went smoothly and it was really fantastic. Chieko was able to explain the story to each of us in an engaging way. She is reliable, knowledgeable and flexible. We would definitely love to go on walks guided by Chieko again.
