Enoshima Island, the venue for the Olympics and Paralympics for the second time in 2020

Going to be the second time....

Enoshima Island is a popular seaside resort close to Kamakura and visited by many tourists all year around. And the island will be an even more exciting place in 2020.

" The picturesque Island ", Enoshima was chosen as the sailing venue for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics by the IOC on June 8th.

It was fifty-one years ago.....

Enoshima Island was the Olympic harbor for the 1964 Summer Olympics. The site is located on the east side of the island and you can enjoy strolling around the area and feel the excitement of the days.

The perfect place for the event

Enoshima Island is located a little off shore from the beach in Fujisawa city. Surrounded by clean sea water of Sagami Bay and with Mt. Fuji viewed in the distance, the island sure will be the perfect place for the games and welcome people from all over the world!

Eri’s wonderful guided trip around Kamakura was the highlight of out trip to Japan. She was very knowledgeable and explained everything in great detail. Besides the main sites, she took us through interesting neighborhoods and a delicious restaurant for lunch. Most of all, Eri was extremely flexible and helpful with my elderly parents. She was able to make adjustments at the last minute to our...

My wife and 13 year old twins spent a truly memorable day in Kamakura and Enoshima Island last week with Eri as our guide and she went above and beyond to make sure we had a visit we'll never forget . To begin, we were very interested in seeing Hokokuji Temple and Eri was extremely flexible in adding it our itinerary without cutting anything out of the tour. My wife Sandra and I spent a great day in Kamakura with Eri. She knows Kamakura inside out and she clearly loves it, which was apparent from the way she showed many of its highlights to us. Eri met us at the station dressed in a beautiful kimono which was a delightful touch. The tour designed for us took us to several temples around Kamakura and her explanations of the history and significance o...

My sons (aged 14 and 12) and I decided to visit Kamakura as a short-getaway from our Tokyo trip. As I was travelling with my teenagers, I was looking for someone who could show us around all the shrines and temples (which could otherwise have been boring without any guide). We're very happy to have found Eri. Eri is an excellent guide who knows Kamakura very well. Dressed in a kimono, she has a pl...

“ Comprehensive half day intro to Kamakura ”

Excellent
4 months ago Traveler: Minnie -   Tour Guide: Eri

We booked a half day tour with Eri because our flight arrived early in the morning and we could not check in to hotel until 3 pm. We took the wrong train and arrived 15 mins late into Kamakura but Eri was very patient and cheerful. She also helped us store our luggage at a "secret" local place near the station which was full. The tour was very informative and fun and was well worth the time spent....

We were met at the Kamakura train station by a beautiful woman dressed in kimono. Eri was informative and entertaining throughout our walking tour of Kamakura. Not only did we see the beautiful shrines and learn of their histories, our tour included walking through the quiet residential streets away from the main stream to these sites. Eri's love for sharing her knowledge and insights was unmistak...

We had a lovely day with Eri! My family (including twin 4 year old boys) took the train (which she helped us with finding the correct train/time) from Tokyo to see the Daibutsu, and with the help and knowledge of Eri, we saw the Big Buddha and so much more! Traveling with kids is so different and she helped make it fun for them and interesting and relevant for us. We first went to the main shrine,...

We did a walking tour of Kamakura with Eri during our recent cruise around Japan. Eri was so helpful in advance of the tour, giving us exact instructions on how to take the train from the port in Yokohama. The tour was wonderful. Eri met us at the train station. She was wearing a traditional kimono, which was very nice. She gave us so much good information about the various sites. Her English is e...

We had a wonderful time with Eri. Being a local, Eri was very knowledgeable of the history, culture and legends of Kamakura. She speaks English extremely well and she made sure we were comfortable and did not feel rushed at all. My kids (ages 9 & 13) loved Eri. While we waited for our dishes at the table during lunch, she gave each of us a beautiful packet of origami paper and started showing us...
