Dine Beside The Stream: Kibune no Kawadoko

by Yuri - TripleLights travel specialist

Kibune Kawadoko is a place with a unique style of dining in Kyoto, especially popular during the summer when the heat is overwhelming. Visitors can dine in restaurants right beside the stream, with live flowing water and a fresh natural atmosphere.

Some of the restaurants in Kibune Kawadoko include Hirobun, Hiroya, Hyoue, Ugenta, and Nakayoshi. These restaurants offer a variety of menu including Kyoto Kaiseki (traditional multi-course Japanese meal). Kaiseki is formal dining and can be very expensive, ranging from $100-$150 (around ¥9,000) per person, depending on the restaurant.

Aside from kaiseki and other special courses, some restaurants also offer yukata rental for both their male and female visitors to wear while having their meal by the stream. This gives more of the traditional Japanese in Kyoto feel.

He pickend us, group of four, up at the cruiseport, right in time and showed us the best spots of Kyoto. Behause our time was limited due to the departure of our cruise ship, we had to cut the prorgram, but it was no problem for Shogo. He made optional suggestions and arranged everything. It did not bother him, even to give up lunch and buy a sandwich in the supermarket. Thanks for all, Shogo!

A very friendly guide. He helped navigate us through Kyoto. Other people commented on his English, I think it was ok. No better than one could expect from a native citizen and local. I’d prefer this kind of person anyways since they know the “tricks”. He was kind to ensure he understood and verified your question’s answer.

Mana is an informed, enthusiastic guide. She covered a lot. We visited mainly shrines and temples. This was great as many of what we saw that day would have been difficult to visit on our own. We both found her English excellent. She is happy to completely customize your tour. We would recommend her happily.

“ Kyoto Family Day Trip ”

Excellent
1 day ago Traveler: Evan -   Tour Guide: Nobuko

We hired Nobuko to take us to the major sites in Kyoto and couldn't be happier. We are a family of 4 including 2 kids 11 and 13 years old so that means there are a lot of opinions about where to go next and how. Nobuko helped us plan our complete itinerary and we completed every stop for the day including giving my wife plenty of time to shop for her favorite treats. Nobuko has impeccable engli...
