Day tour to Chiba from Tokyo - How to go and what to do

Chiba Prefecture is located east of Tokyo, still part of the Greater Tokyo Area. It is the 6th most populous prefecture in Japan. There are numerous sightseeing spots in Chiba, and due to the close distance to Tokyo, there is good access from the megalopolis. Some of the most popular places in Chiba Prefecture is Narita, Urayasu, and Chiba, the capital city.


Chiba city, located 40 km (25 miles) southeast of the center of Tokyo, is home to Chiba Port, Makuhari Messe (where many big events in Japan are held), Chiba Zoological Park and many other popular destinations.


Urayasu, another city located in Chiba Prefecture, famously known for the Tokyo Disney Resort (Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea).


Narita, one of the cities in Chiba Prefecture, is a site of Narita International Airport, the main international airport serving the Greater Tokyo Area. Narita city also has numerous attractions.


How to go to Chiba from Tokyo?

Here are ways to travel to Chiba, the capital of Chiba prefecture from some major places in Tokyo:

Day tour to Chiba from Tokyo - How to go and what to do

Tokyo station to Chiba (around 55 min- ¥690)
- At Tokyo Station, get on the Keiyo Line (red), get off when you reached Chiba-Minato Station.

-From Chiba-Minato Station, walk about 9min (750m) until you reach Chiba.

Shinjuku station to Chiba (around 1h 20 m - ¥1000)
- Take the Chuo-Sobu Line (green yellowish colored) to Chiba Station.

- At Chiba Station, switch to Chibatoshi Monorail (purple colored) and get off at Shiyakushyo-mae Station. Walk for 2 mins to Chiba.


Narita Airport Terminal 2 to Chiba (1h 10m- ¥840)
-From Narita Airport Terminal 2·3, get on the Keisei Line (purple) to Keisei Tsudanuma Station.

- At Keisei Tsudanuma Station, switch to Keisei Chiba Line (purple), and get off at Shin-Chiba Station. From there, walk around 900m until you reach Chiba.

Haneda Airport Terminal 2 to Chiba (around 1 h 15 m- ¥1300)
- From Haneda Airport Terminal 2, take the Haneda Airport Limousine Bus and get off when you reached Tokyo Disneyland bus stop.

- From there, walk to Maihama Station. At Maihama Station, get on the Keiyo Line (red) until you reach Chiba-Minato Station. Walk 750m until you reach Chiba.  

Akihabara Station to Chiba (around 1h-  ¥840)
- From Akihabara Station, take the Chuo-Sobu Local line (green yellowish) to Chiba Station.

- At Chiba station, switch Chibatoshi Monorail and get off when you reached Shiyakushyo-mae Station. From there, walk 2 mins to Chiba.

Shibuya station to Chiba (around 1 h 10 m - ¥1100)
-Take the Saikyo Line (tosca) to Shinkiba Station.

-At Shinkiba Station, switch to Keiyo Line (red) and get off when you reached Chiba-Minato Station. From there, walk around 750m to Chiba.

  • Kamogawa Seaworld

The largest aquarium in Kanto Region, with over 11,000 examples of sea life on display.

  • Makuhari Messe

  • Chiba Zoological Park

A zoological park opened in 1985 with 7 different areas. You can see many different attractions and animals.

  • Naritasan Park

A large park located at the back of Naritasan Shinsho-ji Temple with rich nature that includes the plum blossoms during spring and also the stunning autumn colors.

An 800m old town street leading to the temple where there are many restaurants and souvenir shops. You can sample Japan through the famous regional delicacy of eel and traditional festivals here.
