Chuka Soba Minami: One of Those Underrated Ramen Shops in Tokyo

by Yuri - TripleLights travel specialist

Chuka soba, which literally means “Chinese soba”, is just another name for the famous ramen. It has no difference or whatnots, and is just a preference in naming by some ramen shops in the region.

Chuka Soba Minami is one of those ramen shops less known by foreign tourists and some locals. The soup at Chuka Soba Minami is quite bitter as usual, but is very rich in taste you’ll find it hard to not drink the soup after slurping the noodles.

The noodles used are good in texture but some strands are softer than usual. This makes the noodles easier to eat.

I had the pleasure of meeting Tomoko for our one night tour of Shinjuku. Even though we were staying in Shinjuku, I preferred to hire a guide for the walking tour at night especially for visiting Kabukicho area. She is an excellent guide, very polite, knowledgeable and speaks very good english and communicates well. She gladly customized the tour duration to our need. I wish I had planned some of ...

Akira delivered as promised and was really knowledgeable, helpful and kind. It was really helpful we had him to help us apply the Suica cards & navigate the JR and metro systems. I had a wonderful tour of Tokyo with Shizuko. She did a great job of communicating with me before the trip to plan our itinerary. She was also flexible during the day when I wanted to see something that wasn’t on the original plan. She was very knowledgeable about the history and background for each of the sites we visited which helped me learn more about the city and culture. She also brought...

Triplelights makes it cheaper and easier to book the tickets. It'd be better to include details on exactly how and when to pick up the tickets. Should get rid of scary warning like come 30 minutes in advance or risk losing tickets.

3 days ago Traveler: Kevin -   Tour Guide: Mariko

My wife and I recently visited Japan and spent one full day with Mariko touring Tokyo. We found her to be highly responsive throughout the planning stages and very helpful during the tour. Although the transportation system in Tokyo is excellent, it's an extremely crowded city. Being with Mariko allowed us to see far more than we'd have been able to experience on our own had we tried to figure ...

Enjoyed visiting Tokyo for the 1st time. Tokyo is hard to visit on your own with only 2 days to spend. Sites are spread all over and you need local knowledge to see the most in a small amount of time. Junichi knows all the sites and how to travel using the subway system. He is interesting, speaks good English, and seems to enjoy showing tourists his wonderful city.
