If you were one of my close friends and have only limited budget touring in Tokyo, Japan, I strongly recommend you to book a Capsule Hotel located in the center of Tokyo.
I happened to have to stay a night in the hotel. I took the pictures here.
Capsule Hotels offer individuals small"capsule", as seen in the picture, just enough size to sleep inside.
Each capsule is equipped with a TV, light, ventilation, and a alarm clock, which are arranged so that users could operate while lying down.
Open side of the capsule is shut by just a curtain or a screen. Since capsules are unlocked, usually a separate locker is provided for luggage. Guest staying two and more nights have to put their luggage and belongings in their locker of the hotel every day during room cleaning time 10:00-16:00.
Shared bathrooms and shower are also provided. Some Hotel offers separate floors for men and women.
They don't offer any drink and food. Dining hall for the guests with 20 chairs is available. Coffee server and microwave are also available. Convenience store (konbini in Japanese) and Ashiyu (hot spring for only foot) are on the 1st floor of the building.
The best part of Capsule Hotels is their inexpensive price, about 2000 to 4000 yen per night. Typical users are individuals who have missed the last train/bus to get back home because of working or drinking.
It is a very unique type of hotel developed in Japan. It has a history of about 40 years long.
Usually it is said that you get what you pay for. I paid only 3,330 yen per night.
However Japanese basically cleanly race and quality oriented.
It is worth to stay even if the cost is cheap.
