Daikanyama - best selfie spots in Tokyo -

Looking for the best selfie spots in Tokyo? Daikanyama is the place to go! It’s also known as a “Little Brooklyn”. Spend a pleasant day in the laid-back atmosphere of this modern district. It’s a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of Central Tokyo. Fashionistas like the trendy shops and hip cafes in the area.

Here are a few of my favorites.

1.  Starbucks Reserve Roastery Tokyo Daikanyama - best selfie spots in Tokyo -

Start the day with the stimulating aroma of coffee. This particular Starbucks store is like a coffee art gallery.  It was designed by Kengo Kuma, the renown Japanese architect who designed the main 2020 Olympic stadium. Check out that hammered copper pillar! Did you notice the meticulously crafted little copper cherry blossoms hanging from the ceiling? Stunning!

Please note that this place is quite popular. Best to go in the morning. Entrance is free. We don’t even have to order coffee to enjoy the beauty of the place.

2.  Kyu Asakura HouseDaikanyama - best selfie spots in Tokyo -

It is a 100-year old mansion with beautifully cultivated gardens. The serene surroundings will soothe tired souls. Photogenic spots abound both indoors and outdoors.

3.  Tsutaya booksDaikanyama - best selfie spots in Tokyo -

What is it about the smell of books that brings us happy thoughts? Even modern bookstores like this still evoke the same joy. Relax in one of the café seats while reading a newly-discovered book. Alternatively, we can have a seat by one of the picturesque windows and zone out. If we’re lucky, we can even enjoy a live performance at the music area. How can we even put into words that incredible atmosphere?

Apart from the wide selection of books, they also have a wide range of CDs and stationery on offer.

4. The Area Surrounding the Daikanyama Station

There are a lot of cute cafes and shops to explore in this area. Thirsty? Sample the craft beer?  I also recommend the banana juice. It’s one of my faves!

See you soon!

Thank you T-Chan (Toshi-San) for an amazing day in Tokyo. I was a solo traveler with one day in Tokyo. T-Chan made it a truly unforgettable day. My day with Toshi started when she picked me up promptly at my Shinjuku hotel. She then took me to experience TeamLab Planets - a spectacular body immersive digital arts experience - in Odaiba. Along the way, we rode the fully automated train and she...

We had a wonderful tour with Toshi today. It was very interesting, informative and entertaining! Toshi modified our tour to add in all of our requested inclusions and the tour flowed easily. “ Great day in Tokyo with a large family group ”

8 months ago Traveler: Kristina -   Tour Guide: Toshi(T-chan)

We spent a fabulous day with T-Chan! She was organised, knowledgeable, polite, expert and caring. She took us to the places we were interested in but enhanced our itinerary further with other suggestions and places. We fit a lot in the day but didn’t feel overly rushed. Our relatively young children also enjoyed the day very much which can be challenging. T-Chan even provided us with summary not...

I was on a 12 hour layover from Narita airport so I decided to take a tour of Tokyo in that time. I booked Toshi in that time and I was surprised to find out that I could customize the tour to whatever I wanted, so I picked the tour and settled the timing of everything with her. The tour was really thorough and expansivr as Toshi seemed to know everything about Tokyo and Japan, If I had a question...

My daughter and I had a very nice day with Toshi. During it, we visited the Asakusa – Sensoji Temple, tasted melon pan (sweet bread), took in sweeping views of Tokyo from the 46th floor of the Shiodome, visited Miyazaki’s Giant Clock, saw where the Olympic village and venues were being completed, and generally had a wonderful time. Thank you Toshi.

She is very knowledgeable of the history behind the places we visited. Also shared a lot on cultural behaviour such as how to use the washing ladles outside the shrines and the demarcation of internal vs external areas of temples etc. A great and helpful guide. Highly recommended.

“ Kamakura Day Tour ”

9 months ago Traveler: Anthony -   Tour Guide: Toshi(T-chan)

Toshi made the day tour of Kamakura very seamless. Her tours are just the right amount of walking including a variety of historic sites. She even went out of her way at the end of the day to take us to see the beach in Kamakura. We also enjoyed trying the sardines over rice, which is a cuisine known in Kamakura.
