Autumn is one of the best seasons to travel in Japan as well as spring. The attraction in autumn is, needless to say, colored leaves. In the mountainous area around Tokyo, such as Nikko and Hakone, it starts from about mid- October in a normal year. I've heard a news the other day that the trees have already begun to change color deep in Nikko area. In Tokyo and Kamakura, it's usually from about mid-November. The term of autumn leaves we can enjoy is longer than cherry brossom's. That means you have better chance to catch its best timing.
The Japanese has a tradition to enjoy an excurtion to view the autumn leaves. Unlike hanami in spring, or cherry brossoms viewing, which is often accompanied with a feast, we just appreciate the varicolored nature walking around spots in autumn. I'm preparing some excurtions from Tokyo and looking forward to seeing you.
